QUEENS & KHEDIVES SUDAN PAIR WITH THE ATBARA & KHARTOUM CLASPS, 1914-15 TRIO & IGS 1908 WITH AFGHANISTAN NWF 1919 CLASP. 1/4TH RAJPUTS (ON THE TRIO) & MAJOR. 2/11TH RAJPUTS (ON THE IGS). COMPLETE WITH SOME BASIC RESEARCH INCLUDING MEDAL ROLL & MIC DETAILS. THE KHEDIVES SUDAN IS UNNAMED AS ISSUED & THE IGS 1919 IS OFFICIALY RENAMED AS IS COMMON WITH THE MEDAL TO INDIAN ARMY OFFICERS (HOWEVER THE PRICE REFLECTS THIS). Major Ernest Elborough Woodcock Lincolnshire Regiment and Indian Army Born 19 November 1876 at Fyzabad, Bengal, India, son of Colonel Elborough Martin Woodcock, late IA born 21 Jan 1837, commissioned 1856, married at Calcutta 1 December 1864 to Mary Ann Parry Woodcock. In 1885 he was Lt-Col and District Superintendent of Police, grade 1, Fyzabad, Oudh. Colonel 30 Dec 1889, Unemployed Supernumerary List 6 June 1897, died Elmwood, Colyford, Devon 28 April 1909 Ernest had an elder brother, William Charles Marmaduke Woodcock b. 1865 who retired a Lt-Col, IA in 1912. Educated Eagle House School 1886 1891, then Cheltenham College 1891 – 1893. Commissioned a Second Lieutenant, 3rd Battalion, the Sherwood Foresters (Derbyshire Regiment) (Militia) 5 February, 1895. Promoted Lieutenant 1 December 1896 Commissioned Second Lieutenant 1 December 1897 with 1 st battalion Lincolnshire Regiment and joined regiment at Cairo. Served Sudan Expedition, 1898. Battles of Atabara and Khartoum. Khedives Medal and two clasps. Arrived in India with 1st battalion Lincolnshire Regiment November 1898. Appointed Lieutenant, Indian Army from the Lincolnshire Regiment 4th August, 1900, but to rank from 25th October, 1899. Appointed Indian Army & 4th P. Rajputs 4 August 1900. Appointed Adjutant, 4th P. Rajputs 18 May 1904 – 18 May 1908. Promoted Captain 1 December 1906. Appointed temporary Company Commander, 1st battalion, 4th P. Rajputs 2 June 1907? On leave out of India for 8 months from 24 January 1910. Married at Eastbourne in circa May 1910 to Edith Verschoyle, widow of Kynaston Edwards Verschoyle, C. Of Irrigation, Lower Egypt, b. 9 August 1858; d. 17 March 1907; m. Of Matthew Wilson Armour of Liverpool and had a son Harold Denis Edwards Verschoyle, b. 1900, later Lieut-Col, OBE (Mil), Somerset L. And The Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. Appointed temporary Company Commander, 4 th P. Rajputs (10 th Jats served in India until 1917) The 1st battalion, 4th P. Rajputs were mobilised 20 January 1915, originally as part of 12 th Indian Infantry Brigade, 12 th Indian Division. They landed at Basra in Mesopotamia on 7 February 1915. The regiment served in Mesopotamia until September 1919. Appointed temporary Major 1 September 1915 Promoted Major 1 Dec 1915 (later antedated to 1 Sept 1915) Appointed Company Commander & second in command, 2nd battalion, 11 th Rajputs, 27 September 1918. (The 2nd battalion, 11th Rajputs was formed in India in January 1918) Still with 2nd battalion, 11th Rajputs in April 1919 Indian Army List. Serves with 2nd battalion, 11th Rajputs during 3 rd Afghan war. They were stationed at Loralai, Baluchistan at outbreak of war. The battalion was disbanded in May 1920. In the July 1919, January 1920, April 1920 & April 1921 Indian Army Lists he is listed as being on leave on a medical certificate. Retired as a consequence of ill-health 10 April 1921. Fantastic grouping belonging to T/5 Leroy B. Moore, Company B (later Company M), 157th Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Division. Includes his 1940 dated tunic with medal ribbons, 45th Div patch etc. Some moth nips but overall very good. Also includes his medals (which match the ribbons on his uniform), including his named Bronze star and Good Conduct medals and his numbered New York State Conspicuous Service Medal. His ETO medal and ribbon have a silver star and invasion arrow (these guys landed in Italy). Also includes his Christmas 1942 Company M, 157th Infantry Regiment roster (he is listed) and his 1942 Historical and Pictorial Review of Camp Croft, South Carolina book (he is listed with his photo). Here we have a Fantastic WW1 Gallantry MC Mons 9th Londons Regiment Family Brothers Medal Group, Great set of medals comprising of a officially cased and professionally mounted Military Cross & 15 Trio group, the MC is dated 1919 and contemporarily named to LT G Forsyth 9th London Regiment, the Trio is officially impressed and named Lieut G Forsyth 9/Lond R, there is a original set of miniatures also mounted and with this group, along with original photos of the officer, there is then another officially medal cased mounted 14 trio to LT G Forsyths brother 2385 Pte B Forsyth 9/ Lond R, he is shown in a copy photo of all 3 brothers together, and finally an official brother of the 3rd brother with a hallmarked silver identity bracelt named Lt L W Forsyth C of E RAMC.
