Set of 5 Second World War WW2/WWII medals, mounted, in excellent condition. Awarded to Corporal G. S. B. Ellison, Royal Army Service Corps.
Originally the General Honor Decoration, founded in 1843. It was awarded without regard to rank’For Bravery’ and was the grand duchy’s standard military award, being the equivalent to the Prussian Iron Cross Second class.
For Mayer on the front near the collar. The version showing Grand Duke Friedrich II was issued from the year after his accession in 1907 until his abdication at the end of World War I in 1918.
