Elder completed advanced single-engine training in Oct 1945 having started on 6 Aug 1945 at Moore Field, Texas. His was the last training class at the field. His full career is unknown. He did receive pilot wings, World War II Victory Medal (whereabouts of medal unknown) that was placed with his training certificate, AAF patch and a photo was what is believed to be his T-6 Trainer. More research on this career is required. Moore Field was opened on 20 Sep 41 as an AAF Training as a single-engine training school. It was named for 2LT Frank Murchison Moore, on 22 Nov 41. The faciity conducted advanced pilot training of 6,000 pilots using BT-13, PT-19, AT-6, P-36 and P-43 aircraft. The school was reorganized as the 2529th Army Air Force Base Unit (Pilot School, Advanced Single Engine) on 1 April 44. The school and airfield closed on 31 Oct 45. After the war the field was reactivated in the 1950′s under USAF control until closing once again in 1963. It was handed over to the Agricultural Department and is currently active under their control. Some spots from having been previously taped in a scrapbook. Pilot Wings, Frosted on back. Wings are standard 3 size. Replacement clutches are modern. Not known if they are sterling. WWII Victory Medal Ribbon. Ribbon is narrow army pinback type. Whereabouts of Medal unknown. Small 3 photo of T-6 Texan in flight. Some tape noted on front of photo along with some edge bumps. Has partially obscured pencil indicating they were sent sent a girlfriend or wife in Texas. Certificate/ribbon bar/wings/patch show normal wear/tear associated with age/use. Certificate shows normal toning with age. Evidence of having been taped in scrapbook. Photo shows normal toning with age and some edge bumps. Evidence of having been in scrapbook. Modern clutches for wings provided. Patch in overall very good condition for age, ribbon bar in overall very good condition for age. There may other minor age related defects on all. Normal wear and tear associated with age.
WWII bronze merit award for the 604. Army Engineer Camouflage Battalion, with cardboard box, about 1? Inches in diameter. Good condition, some edge nicks, some specks of green in the crevices. Box is worn but structurally sound, and has some green stains on the inside of the base. Sorry for any confusion. Sometimes Priority can be cheaper than Parcel Select, depending on your zip code and the weight of the package. Large/fragile items can’t always be combined.

This is a salty World War I/World II Marine Corps Colonel’s Insignia and Ribbon Bar Group that is in very good condition. The group consists of a large Model 1937 Officers Eagle, Globe, and Anchor visor hat insignia, 2 Officers Eagle, Globe, and Anchor collar insignia, a matching pair of silver Colonel’s war eagle rank insignia, and a 7-piece ribbon bar set. All three Eagle, Globe and Anchor insignia are screw back and are a matching set by the Hilborn and Hamburger firm of New York. Each is marked with their H&H within an eagle logo on the back side. The continents have been separately applied to the globes with the original black finish only slightly worn on the high spots. The war eagles are by the N. Meyer firm of New York and has their shield logo on the back side. They are also marked with,’SHOULD-R-FORM’ and a shield with’USMC’ over’97′ on the back of the left wing. The pins and roller locking assemblies are complete and fully functional. The pin back ribbons are the ½ wide navy type and consist of a single Silver Star Medal ribbon, a 3- place ribbon bar consisting of the Purple Heart Medal, the World War I Victory Medal with 4 bronze campaign stars, and Haitian Campaign Medal. The lower bar consists of the 2nd Nicaraguan Campaign Medal, the Yangtze Service Medal, and the Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal. The Silver Star ribbon is with functional pin and roller locking pin assembly. The 3-Place ribbon bars have functional pins, open catches, and exhibit light soiling and some fraying from service over the years. This remains a fine group in overall very good condition and one that was proudly worn by a salty, long service Marine Corps Colonel.
Here we are offering. A German Eastern People’s Award 1st Class in gilt With Swords, for bravery. The award though unmarked, is believed to be manufactured by the firm of 100 as it has the classic hinge and hook of this maker. This example along with many others, was picked up in the Reichschancellery at the end of the war, by a British servicemen. These awards rated higher than the Iron Cross 1st class. Army Bronze Star in coffin type presentation case. New Old Stock (NOS). Set includes medal, ribbon bar, and lapel pin all in great condition. The case shows some signs of wear and tear consistent with age and storage, but does not have any major damage. A genuine piece of United States WWII military history. Not easy to find these! The group includes Bronze Star and Good Conduct medals. 6 ribbon bars, Sterling screw back ruptured duck and theater made 976th Field Artillery distinctive insignia all items are pictured.
