WW1 era German Home guard cross. Shows wear, use, pitting and oxidation. Mit Gott” (upper arm), “für König und Vaterland (in the middle). Landsturm, or Home guard militia as an additional source of manpower during the war was initially created by a decree of the King of Prussia Friedrich Wilhelm III on April 21, 1813. Thus it didn’t exist during time of peace and its personnel was recruited only after the declaration of war. In fact Landsturm didn’t exist before the Great War with an exception of paper drill. Afghanistan, Medal for Valor, 1980s. German silver; 37.1 mm wide; weighs 21.6 g not including the suspension and connecting link. The design is reminiscent of the Soviet Valor Medal, with a modern Soviet tank and jets flying overhead. Very nicely detailed tank and rocky terrain. In outstanding, excellent condition. The details are perfect. The original brilliant mint luster is beautifully preserved on both sides. Comes with a scarce original regulation ribbon which shows evidence of age and use but is still very well-preserved. Established in 1980, this medal was awarded for bravery on the battlefield to both Afghan and Soviet servicemen.

RARE WW1 CASED GERMAN IRON CROSS 1ST CLASS – DEUMER – ORIGINAL VAULTED – This is a Early war unmarked three piece Deumer made cross with copper coated magnetic core and vaulted appearance. Remains in slightly worn condition with some of the black lacquer on the core worn down, nicely exposing the copper finish on the beading. Appealing cross with a good’has been there’ look. This cased cross also came directly out of an estate in Germany, it has never been in a collection until it came to mine several years ago. I never displayed this cross in its case, I always kept it closed and in a sealed plastic container to try to limit the rate of degradation. That may seem strange to some people and thats ok, its just what I did because its such a nice cross that has withstood the test of time. Maker: Wilhelm Deumer, Lüdenscheid. Weight: 15.21 Grams. Soviet Russian USSR Cold War documented medal group consisting of a Medal for Combat Service (or Medal for Combat Merit) with document awarded 27 June 1989 to KGB Border Guard Oleg Vladimirovich Chernyshenko for actions during the Soviet War in Afghanistan! As a rule, direct archival research for awards of this nature (KGB/Border Guards) is not possible. The attribution on hand (“border guard” “Soviet-Afghan War”) was provided by experienced researchers who have had opportunities to examine relevant archival documents in the past. The authenticity of this image is highly dubious to say the least. It is therefore not included in the listing images and should not be considered part of the lot. Condition is excellent , as seen in the images! Some markings to booklet pages. All questions in advance. I will answer all coherent, respectful inquiries to the best of my ability. Please see my other listings. Lots of excellent Soviet medals! Many additional high quality pieces available that are not yet listed.
