Exceedingly Rare 1939 FLEET MARINE CORPS RESERVE MEDAL Miniature USMC U. S. Mini

It doesn’t get rarer than this… Completely original Type 1 1939 U. Marine Corps Fleet Reserve miniature medal. These type 1 medals were only awarded (I believe there was a single BB&B contract) for a handful of months in early 1939. It was replaced by the type II medal for the second half of 1939 and a short time in 1940 before a complete activation of the Fleet Marine Corps Reserve occurred at the earliest onset of WWII. Thus, there was no need for either medal during the war, so both early types rarely surface for sale. Full size type I medals only come up for sale every few years, and I’ve only seen two miniatures in 30 years in the hobby. This is truly a time capsule piece. A very interesting WW2 Royal Naval Reserve LSGC medal group to Petty Officer Jack Phillips. Comes with some copied research. He was in the light Cruiser HMS Sirius during Operation Husky (Sicily Landings) in 1943. Onboard HMS Newfoundland when she was torpedoed by either Italian Submarine Ascianghi or U-407 on 27th March, 1943. She limped back to to Malta missing her rudder with one killed and 15 wounded. Served in Police in Devon & Cornwall district. Interesting to see Royal Navy reserve with fighting history. A lovely group, mounted for display. WW2 stars and War medal unnamed as issued. RNR LSGC correctly impressed -”7760 C. O R. N. R”. EII2 Constabulary medal correctly impressed -”JACK PHILLIPS”. Any questions please feel free to ask.
