Original photo album depicting a British navy man serving in Burma During the latter part of WW2. Included in the album is several photographs depicting ships and naval service however most of the photos appear to be civilian life. Also included is his medal group, where he had earnt the 1939-45 Star, Atlantic Star, Burma Star with Pacific Clasp, The Defence Medal and the 1939-45 War Medal. All medals are mounted and in near pristine condition. Fresh group out of an estate clearance which has never seen the collectors market before. A superb personal group. Awarded – Sergeant Podlesov Mikhail Alexandrovich – assistant platoon commander of the 1236th Infantry Regiment of the Red Army. Sergeant Podlesov was awarded the medal “For Bravery” for bravery in fight on March 25, 1945 in the area of the city of Danzig (Poland). In this fight, the platoon of sergeant Podlesov destroyed two machine gun points and captured 10 German soldiers. Information from the site archive of the Red Army. Production on Moscow state mint. Bonus – a document for the medal “For the victory over Germany” for Sergeant Podlesov. A old photo soldiers of the Red Army. S ergeant on the left was awarded the medal “For Bravery”. Not a reprint, not a copy, original photo. Size 60 x 93 mm. 100% authentic, original old a medal, a tape, the device for carrying. Description: Original named WW1 AEF grouping from a soldier who later served in WW2 as a navy seabee! He enlisted in the army in 1916, trained at Camp Hagman, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, was said to have been stationed in France, then served in Siberia with the 167th Company, North Russia Transportation Corps. He lived from 1895 – 1959. Lot includes a wrap brooch WW1 victory medal with Siberia clasp, VFW cap with ribbon bars & patches (the AEF Siberia patch appears to be a 1930′s Studley made example) & misc. Veteran’s items attached, rare unposted AEF postcard from Siberia, 3-page handwritten letter from Siberia described by him as “Just off the planet”! , & a rare yard long photo of his unit while in Brest, France (badly curled from age & with edge tears & stains).
