INSIGNIA AS SEEN ON PHOTO INCLUDED, ALL ORIGINAL NO REPROS. ITEMS WILL BE SENT WITH DISPLAY BOX. HE WAS LATER APPOINTED TO RANK OF LIEUTENANT 5 11 1947. S=DYRING WW2 HE SERVED ON HMCS STADACONA, QN CHARLOTTE, CORWALLIS, KINGS, AVALON, CAPTOR, BRUNSWICKER AND DISCOVERY. HE LATER SERVED ON HMCS CHIPPAWA, DISCOVERY, MALAHAT, NADEN AND NEW GLASGOW. INCLUDED IS A MEDAL NAMED TO J O REID DATED 28 1 1875. THE MEDAL IS THE 1967 BRITISH COLUMBIA CANADIAN PIONEERS MEDAL. The medal is silver-coloured with the words “British Columbia Honours Canadian Pioneers 1967″ around the edge of the face. There is “100″ and a dogwood flower in the centre. On the other side is The First Explorer From Canada. Around the edge, with a picture who appears to be Alexander Mackenzie. There is an inscription that reads “Alexander Mackenzie 1793″. A genuine, fullsize WW1 1914-15 star trio and Royal Navy Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (Geo V) group of 4 to Private Frederick Richard Baker of the Royal Marines Light Infantry, who served on the battleship Emperor of India during Jutland. 1914-15 Star Trio – PO. I RN LSGC (Geo V) – PO. I In good condition with signs of wear. All medals have correctly impressed naming Comes with the following printed paragraph of research Private Frederick Richard Baker was born in Middlebourne, near Farnham, Surrey, on 4 March 1889. A Bricklayer’s Labourer by occupation, he enlisted into the Chatham Division of the Royal Marines on 15 February 1907. During the war, he served aboard the battleship Emperor of India, September 1914-November 1917. Baker was awarded the L. On 15 June 1922 whilst serving on H. Dublin, he was discharged on 3 March 1928 having completed his second period of service. Baker was recalled to service in August 1939. Serving throughout the war at the depot, Lympstone and Fort Southwick, he was discharged on 25 April 1945 suffering from chronic bro. CPR mustered 52 ships into transporting men and materiel (one million troops and war-time passengers; 4 million tonnes of cargo) 12 ships were torpedoed. 11,340 CPR employees enlisted in all branches of the Canadian Armed Forces and 1, 116 were killed. Included in this collection are: Oak framed Certificate of Gratitude awarded to Seaman McFarlane with his 1914- 1918 Service Medal: William B McFarlane Merchant Marine Medal: William B McFarlane. This framed certificate is UNGLASSED. The company’s official history proudly point out that of it’s personnel service, Two of it’s combatants were awarded the Victoria Cross; Dimensions: OAK FRAME 15″ X 18 & 1/2″. Ephemera of the issuance of McFarlane’s Service Medals. The original cartons(2)are crushed but could be reinforced to their original shape. The respective paper envelopes are quite detailed. The original envelope addressed to Me McFarlane is torn but could be cello- taped together. Board of Trade presentation letter to Engineer MacFarlane (sic) for British War Medal and Mercantile Marine Medal. Authorization “AUTHORITY TO WEAR” CERTIFICATE from the Board of Trade. The instructions and permission to wear the medals are fascinatingly direct with it’s language of the era. “One Yard Portrait” of the Fleet. Titled “Canada’s Rally to the Empire- Answering the Call of the Motherland”, it chronicles the mustering and departure of the CEF in October of 1914, a feat, it extols as being unparalleled since William the Conqueror. ” Measures approximately 9″ by 41 inches. I have owned tons of WW2 Navy uniforms and groupings but this is the first Merchant Marine grouping that I have ever handled. Some is original WW2, some a few post war items and lots of documents. The jumper is 1943 dated and in mint condition, the large color crossing the equator document is WW2 dated as are a few documents. His dress uniform I could not date, is in excellent condition and has bullion anchor patches on each sleeve and is the jacket and pants. There are two berets as well. Also are post war documents and some copies of his wartime papers, some post war Merchant Marine newspapers and some copies of wartime documents regarding his service at Anzio on board a vessel. The medals appear to be post WW2 copies made for the Merchant Marine. Also includes post war Elk Lodge and other fraternal organization documents. Just a neat group with lots of research done already! I do the best I can to describe each item and take great pictures in natural sunlight when possible but please understand that generally I deal with artifacts that have seen military service, are sometimes over 100 years old, have survived sometimes more than one World War and years of storage. They are not brand new, off the shelf items with no defects, scratches, nicks etc. If you have any problem with the item(s) just send me a message and we will work something out. Fox Scarratt saw extensive service in the Persian Gulf, and afterwards participated in the support operations of the Indian Army landings at Tanga, East Africe, in November 1914, and in the subsequent hunt for the Konigsburg, in concert with H. During the war he also served afloat in H. Sutlej, January 1916 to August 1917, and in H. Riviera, armed merchantman and seaplane tender on the Dover Patrol from February 1918.
