FRAMED FRENCH MINIATURE WAR MEDALS and FRAMED PHOTO

This is a marvellous oval framed and glazed miniature war medals set with details of who they were awarded to, as well as the dates of their war service. Included is also an oval framed photo of the person these were awarded to, pictured with his wife. This frame has no glass however. Both frames are in good condition but do exhibit some age-related wear, with the glazed medal frame also having a little restoration to one side, as well as a few scuffs to the trim and a tear to the backing card behind the glass. The glazed medal frame measures approximately 50cm wide by 39cm high with the photo frame measuring 45cm wide by 34.5cm high, at the widest points. WW2 Canadian Korean War Medal Group RCAF RCE Engineers Photographer Framed Lot. James Robert Marwick joined the RCAF as a armourer and served in Canada it would appear only. After the war he qualifed at Rivers Manitoba for his parachute wings while with the RCE. While with the RCE he became a photographer by trade and did two tours of Korea. After Korea he was sent to Los Alamos in the US for photography of the Nuclear testing. Not shown but included with this lot is a pass to enter the USA as he was post to Los Alamos. Also a copy of his service records are included with this lot. Though the medals are framed the Korean war medals are named to him which you can just see in the picture. Also included is a 5000 cups of tea from the salvation army which is named to him. A nice historical group which doesnt come up that often. Vintage WW1 era large framed picture of 28719 Gunner George Washington Turnbull, 5th Brigade, Australian Field Artillery, who was Killed in Action around Ypres on the 18th of August 1917. The picture consists of a central oval with coloured photo of Turnbull and cards showing his name and him being a life member of the West Australian Amateur Sports Club (incorporated). This is set in a glass fronted wooden frame. The frame shows some age wear as shown with a drill hole to base (more than likely a removed brass plate) and shows water staining to reverse. Frame measures 75cm x 100cm. Comes with a small number of copied service papers showing KIA details, grave details etc. Rare to see one of these period pictures have survived. This was hung in a local antique dealers shop for decades, so many WA customers will more than likely recognise this picture. We list militaria and coins weekly. Very Nice Heavy Framed Group. See Pictures for details. A little research was done and papers are included. Air Gunner Gerald Kearns was from Halifax Nova Scotia. May 20th 1942 His aircraft exploded plunging burning wreckage into the German BF 100 E1 Flown by Oblt Friedrich Gutezeit Brustem (Belgium) 1km East of St Trond at 2:24 The two aircraft crashed at Brustem killing both crews.
