Comes with Consolidated Liberator certification award, original photograph of the B-24 Bomber, Original Hat with a block of wood housing various Pins and Medals (4 rank ribbon pins, one likely silver leaf pin, and 4 air force pins, one is broken). Included with an article and related paper stuff. These artifacts belonged to Captain Robert Moriarty of the 745th Bomb Squadron, of the 456 Bomb Group. The artifacts were dated around the summer of 1944 in Stornara Italy. Many of the goods i sell are vintage and antique, please note when stuff gets old it becomes more fragile and delicate. Gregory”Pappy” Boyington [1912 1988] was an American combat pilot who was a United States Marine Corps fighter ace during World War II. Boyington is noted for his leadership of the famous Marine Corps squadron VMF-214”Black Sheep” and was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions and leadership in the Pacific theatre of war. The cover commemorates Charles Lindbergh’s historic 1927 flight and the autograph is signed”Pappy Boyington” in black felt pen. The cover measures 6.50 x 3.75 inches, it is affixed with [3] three U. The cover has been professionally double matted [red-white-blue] along with the image of Pappy Boyington to the dimensions of 10.50 x 18.00 inches and is in fine condition. British War and Victory Medals, 1939/45 Defence and War Medals, Coronation Medal King George VI, Long Service and Good Conduct Medal Royal Air Force GV to Wing Commander Christopher Laurie, Royal Air Force late Private, 14th Battalion London Regiment (London Scottish) born in Edinburgh in 1899. Applying for Pilot, Royal Flying Corps, he was appointed Flying Cadet 15th November 1917 and joined Farnborough 20th November 1917. On 29th January 1918 he was transferred to the Gordon Highlanders for posting to 1st Battalion 14th London Regiment (London Scottish) and served in France with this Battalion as a Private soldier. Post Armistice he attested for the Royal Air Force and served in the Equipment Branch. Commissioned Pilot Officer from Warrant Officer 29th February 1940, promoted War Service Flight Lieutenant 1st December 1942 and Acting Squadron Leader, later promoted Wing Commander, he retired retaining the rank of Wing Commander 10th December 1945. Christopher Laurie was born at 26 Dublin Street, Edinburgh 3rd June 1899, applying for Pilot, Royal Flying Corps, he was appointed Flying Cadet 15th November 1917 having been fit for Pilot training and joined Farnborough 20th November 1917. Medal comes boxed in its original presentation storage case. ORDER OF KING GEORGE I. COMMANDER’S NECK CROSS WITH SWORDS. CIRCA – WAR (1921-25 & 1935-73). BY MAPPIN & WEBB Ltd. WITH ORIGINAL RIBBON & CASE. The Order of the King George I Commander’s Cross Medal with Swords was established in 1921 and was awarded for distinguished services and prominent acts relating to the Military, Nautical and Air operations of Greece. The Medal consists of a fixed white-enamel Cross, the antennae are slightly flattened at the ends and the horizontal shorters. Cross center is red enameled with the Royal Monogram of the King George I, two Greek G crossed, and sign which reads “My Power is People’s Love”. Cross is surrounded by an elliptical laurell wreath. The back side bears the dates 1863 and 1913 in remembrance the King George’s I reign, and date 1915 in a circle, the year of Medal founding.
