Sergeant Alvin York World War I Medal Of Honor Recipient Signed Card PSA/DNA

Alvin Cullum York 1887 1964 also known as Sergeant York, was one of the most decorated United States Army soldiers of World War I. York was awarded the Medal of Honor for leading an attack during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive in France on a German machine gun nest, taking out a machine gun crew, killing 25 enemy soldiers and capturing 132 German soldiers. York earned decorations from several countries during World War I, including, France, Italy and Montenegro. The autograph is signed”Sgt Alvin C. York” in blue fountain pen. The card measures 5.00 x 3.00 inches and is in fine condition. The autograph has been authenticated by PSA/DNA Authentication Services and will be accompanied with the above Letter of Authenticity. Here’s an interesting little lot. All items are the former possession’s of Charles S Wilson, who served for the Royal Corps of Signals during WW2. At the time he was living at Clifton, Penrith in Cumberland (Cumbria). Africa star medal – Missing Eighth army clasp, or the ribbon has been replaced. An original photograph of Charles (X marked above his head) with some of his comrades – On the reverse it has To Muriel with best love from C. W 2.11.40 – Photograph has a crease line. Charles National Identity card stamped 1945 and his wife’s national identity card stamped 1943. See my other militaria currently for sale and I add new items on a regular basis. Offered for sale is a unique set to one German soldier Sebastian Hofer, 2nd Reserve Infantry Regiment, killed in action on 13 April 1918 by an artillery shell, at the age of 37 years and 4 months old in1918, including the very hard to find and very rare Memorial Cup, these were the equivalent of the British WW1 death plaques. Engraved with the soldiers’ name and date of death 13 April 1918 with a separately attached miniature iron cross to the front, silver hallmark stamp of 800 to the base. Set also includes his death card with a photo of him and his iron cross 2nd class, maker marked “M” to an as yet unidentified maker, correct 3 piece construction with a magnetic core. The above recipient was also entitled to the military merit cross, as noted on the card. The 2nd Reserve Infantry Regiment appears to have been part of the 3rd Reserve Division, which at the time of Sebastian Hofers death is recorded as having been positioned in a trench system to the north of Ailette, France, near the Chemin Des Dames in the Aisne area.
