Always embracing the next horizon, Ev first pondered destinations from Yirrell Beach at Point Shirley in Winthrop, MA, where he was born September 28, 1932. Graduating from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, he pursued the wild blue yonder by joining the United States Air Force. His 63rd Military Airlift Wing assignment to Donaldson AFB in Greenville, SC, introduced him to Bobbie Ann Moseley, where their marriage took place in 1960. With Bobbie and children Nancy, Doug, and Kathy, Ev steered the family station wagon cross-country to new homes in IL, CA, SC, MA, AL, and VA, to include a four-year assignment to the Pentagon. After ten years with McDonnell Douglas in CA, the White Mountains of New Hampshire beckoned next, where he and Bobbie bought and operated the Littleton Diner, truly uncharted territory! Returning to MA in 2008, Ev and Bobbie enjoyed their proximity to Doug and his wife, Linda, and grandchildren Lacey, Cameron, and Annica in Amesbury, and regularly shared time in San Diego with Nancy and her husband, Billy Spain, and Kathy and grandsons Brennan and Jake Welcher. Happy explorations throughout New England included friends and family from far and wide, and trips to West Virginia brought fun visits with Ev’s brother, Robert J. World Korean War Blue Military Jacket with Medals, Ribbons. Jacket is in great condition. Most likely a dress uniform. He was a war hero who also served in WW2.
WWII Bronze Star medal from Private First Class John J. Mackin Company “L” 350th infantry regiment 88th infantry division. Citation states he saved a soldier on Mt. Battaglia by carrying a soldier 500 yards to a aid station whom was blinded by shell fragments. He also captured numerous prisoners. Please refer to item photos for full visibility of item condition. Vintage World War 1 veteran’s reunion medal/pin from the 1931 80th. Blue Ridge division in 1931. Ribbon is slightly wrinkled from years of storage. Imperial German World War I PRINZEN Pour Le Merite Blue Max Medal Bar. The prinzen Pour Le Merite Blue Max measures 1 9/16 wide by 1 5/8 tall. The front shows a four armed maltese cross with an eagle in each corner. The front reads Pour Le Merite. There is a Kings crown with a F below on the upper arm. The reverse side is blank. The top of the fan and the oblong suspension loop are both maker marked JGUS for the manufacturing firm of Joseph Godet Und Sohn. Double sided powder blue enamel with a brass frame. The cross is mounted onto a medal bar with a Hindenburg Cross with Swords. The reverse side is maker marked Sch. Has a thin horizontal pin back with a c catch. Magnetic die struck steel construction. The ribbons are machine embroidered woven padded cotton material. This medal bar would have been worn on the walking out dress tunic. Original WW1 WWI German Iron Cross 2nd class W/ Pour Le Merite Blue Max Medal and eagle clasp. I’ve had this one in the collection for almost 30 years. The Veterans wore these after the War in order to be modest and not wear their large medals in public. This one is especially nice, as it has the crowned eagle clasp at the top and the Blue Max medal, which makes me think he was a pilot. I wish I had the name attached to this, but I don’t. Very nice piece for any serious WWI collection. Medal has wear and oxidation, a little bit of enamel loss to the blue max pin and green verdigris to the edges, as you would expect over all these years. Measures 5 long overall. The reverse side is blank. Has an eagle in each corner with powder blue enamel inside a brass frame double sided. The brass lapel button is maker marked and reads Godet & Sohn Berlin with a star burst in the center. Includes the presentation black cotton and flat silver bullion wire ribbon attached above.
