WW2 Imperial Japanese Pilots Lot Suitcase Sword Headband Wings Medal Banner. A Japanese pilots personal lot in his suitcase. There are many interesting things; an equipment bag, two sets of pilots wings, a wool flight suit collar, a medal box with pin and rosette, a medal, a religious banner? A Kamikaze headband, a short sword scabbard and sword bag, and keys for the suitcase. The suitcase has wood trim and is 34 x 18 x 8. It has custom built features, one is holder for a sword, the other is a ring to hold an officers hat. The headband is cotton with a cherry blossom stamp on the back. The short sword is an old samurai case, nice tsuba, wrapped handle with gold trimmed menuki. The blade is missing, replaced with a wood blade. (the original steel blade was likely used for the pilots personal demise as is tradition). A nice lot, and rare. All museum quality original items. I found this RARE 3-combat-jumps set of paratrooper wings pinned inside the case of this medal, many years ago early 1990s? I assume this US Army paratrooper jumped into Sicily, Normandy and Holland (“a bridge too far”), but that’s just a guess. A very nice group from a pilot who flew P-38 Lightings in WWII and flew the B-26 Invader night bomber in Korea. This group has some limited research included. During WWII he served in the CBI China Burma India and acquired 2 local made bullion wings. They are gorgeous with very little wear and bright patina. The pilot and Command Pilot wings are both sterling. The slotted brooch Air Medal has the official US engraving from the Korean War and includes the box. There are 4 dog tags including his 2 next of kin. All other insignia in the pictures are included. E, they are not perfect items.
