VINTAGE WW I U. S. Victory Medal with RUSSIA BAR

For your consideration a full size VINTAGE WW 1 U. Victory Medal with RUSSIA BAR. It is in good condition. ARMY SERVICE CLASPS The Army issued five service (country) clasps for this medal: England , France , Italy , Russia , and Siberia. These service clasps are one eighth of an inch high and one and a half inches wide, with the name of the country in which the service was performed inscribed thereon. Unlike the battle clasps, the Army’s service clasps do not have the small five-pointed star at each end of the clasp. To be eligible for a service clasp, an individual must not have been eligible for a battle clasp. ENGLAND April 6, 1917 to November 11, 1918. FRANCE (April 6, 1917 to November 11, 1918). ITALY (April 6, 1917 to November 11, 1918). RUSSIA (Any Service in Russia). SIBERIA (Any Service in Siberia). NAVY SERVICE CLASPS The Navy issued six service (country) clasps for this medal: England, France, Italy, Russia, Siberia, and West Indies. The Navy’s service clasps were awarded to personnel who served overseas but were not otherwise eligible for a battle clasp. Personnel who sailed from the United States prior to November 11, 1918 but never disembarked are eligible for the clasp denoting their overseas destination. ENGLAND (April 6, 1917 to November 11, 1918). RUSSIA (November 12, 1918 to July 31, 1919). SIBERIA (November 12, 1918 to March 30, 1920). WEST INDIES (April 6, 1917 to November 11, 1918). Adjusting the S&H is a manual process so paying before that process is completed will result in an overpayment. All must be paid for at one time on one invoice to receive these discounts. This is the REAL THING, My grandfather brought it home from the war where he served mostly in the Pacific with the Marine Corps. They do not come with the medal and ribbon. Tjis is truely invaluable and nobody will have the stories that go with it and the hardships he and my grandmother went through in WW2. Thank you all for respecting these items.

For your consideration a full size VINTAGE WW 1 Victory military medal with OISE-AISNE, MEUSE-ARGONNE AND DEFENSIVE SECTOR BARS. Medal is in fair condition with the bars showing dark patina and cloth is aging at bottom. CRITERIA The World War I Victory Medal was awarded for military service during the First World War. It was awarded for active service between April 6, 1917, and November 11, 1918; for service with the American Expeditionary Forces in European Russia between November 12, 1918, and August 5, 1919; or for service with the American Expeditionary Forces in Siberia between November 23, 1918, and April 1, 1920. The following battle clasps, inscribed with a battle’s name, were worn on the medal to denote participation in major ground conflicts. Aisne (May 27 to June 5, 1918). Aisne-Marne (July 18 to August 6, 1918). Cambrai (May 12 to December 4, 1917). Champagne-Marne (July 15-18, 1918). Lys (April 9-27, 1918). Meuse-Argonne September 26 to Nov. Montdidier-Noyon (June 9-13, 1918). Oise-Aisne (August 18 to November 11, 1918). Mihiel (September 12-16, 1918). Somme-Defensive (March 21 to April 6, 1918). Somme-Offensive (August 8 to November 11, 1918). Vittorio-Veneto (October 24 to November 4, 1918). Ypres-Lys (August 19 to November 11, 1918). For general defense service, not involving a specific battle, the “Defensive Sector” Battle Clasp was authorized. The clasp was also awarded for any battle which was not already recognized by its own battle clasp. These are devotional medals from Convents we work with as well as donor collector estates that have gifted their medals to us to help the convents we work with. All our listed items are original Christian devotionals. Some may have been cleaned or polished before their arrival, by their last caretaker. Their use is for personal devotion. These vintage rosary medals were cast during WWII in Italy, to give as gifts to wounded Catholic soldiers at US Army Field Hospitals, and were ordered by Chaplain William Richard Arnold, the Chief of Chaplains, U. The medal has never been blessed, and it is in uncirculated vintage condition, with a beautiful patina commensurate with its age after many years in storage.
