Fantastic 100 % genuine issue ARCTIC Star in labelled transit box with award certificate and original letter of issue from the MOD Medal Office to JX359882 STANLEY HAMPTON RN. These will be rarer than the coveted ACE star, there are many copies but this is the real deal with nice, clear and crisp production with a flat centre not raised as in the copies. I handle many stars and this looks and feels great. Copies are made from a brass alloy and are yellow in colour with a flimsy cheap suspender ring. This is made as the WW2 stars were made from a copper alloy and has pinkish tinge to it. Included are his original WW2 medal entitlement in Transit box and Admiralty award certificate, there is a more recent MOD medal office confirmation as to his full entitlement: 1939-45, Italy Stars, Defence and war Medals all on original silk ribbons. There are two other metal badges and official Mine Sweeping Anti Submarine Service (sewn on type not pinned) and a unofficial 60th anniversary of the battle of the Atlantic veteran badge. There are a few letters of correspondence between the family and the medal office. I don’t know much about this chap he served with the Mediterranean fleet 28th Anti Submarine group and obviously made those harsh and perilous journeys on the Russian convoys. Thank you for looking. From Lowell, MA estate sale. Original WW2 Bronze Star Medal in its box. The exterior of the box is in very nice shape. When opened, the adhesive has let go, so the top lining keeps falling down. And the bottom layer where the medal is laid for presentation looks like it has lost its color in areas…. Instead of being yellow, it has a white appearance like the color has bleached out. 20% will be donated to Disabled American Veterans Charitable Service Trust, of which 97% of donated funds, according to my research, go direct to the bottom line for direct aid.
