Up for sale is an eight medal bar from a Soviet World War II veteran. The veteran had also been awarded the order of the Redstar, but this is missing from the group. The best part of this group is the defense of Moscow medal with the original award document. Another fascinating thing with this grouping is that the veteran has both the military and the war effort version of the Jubilee medal. This is because he was wounded by a landmine and went to work in a factory after he had recovered. The recipient was wounded while recovering captured German vehicles at the village of Vertyachii (on the Don river) after the Stalingrad counteroffensive. He was ordered to evacuate all of the trophy vehicles from a heavily mined area speedily and without losses, which he accomplished completely but for the exception of his own wound. Fantastic grouping, and you will get everything that is pictured.

Soviet Russian USSR WWII Order of the Patriotic War 2nd Class with serial number in the 500 – thousand range, researched, awarded to Captain Aleksandr Tarasenko, a bomber aircraft navigator in Long-Range Aviation (100th Long-Range Bomber Aviation Regiment)! His bomber shot down 1x PZL 24 fighterplane (a rare kill, probably Romanian) and 1x ME-109. He suffered two wounds inflicted by enemy aircraft, both of which are supported with documentation. While severely wounded, he managed to fly his damaged and burning aircraft back to base, thus saving his crew! He was subsequently grounded due to wounds and served well as a staff officer in a fighter regiment. Excellent and scarce award! Condition is great , as seen in the images! The serial number of the award is authentic and matches the serial number shown in the archival documents. If you require confirmation in advance, please send me a message, and I will gladly provide images. Reasonable, rational collectors who are genuinely interested in the history represented by an award will make the effort to reach out and will quickly find that everything is in order. Winner will be provided with archival research (11 pages – including serial number documentation, documentation on the presentation of the award to the family, Citation, and a full Service Record) in electronic format, unredacted, in color, plus an archival portrait of Tarasenko, also in electronic format. Professional English translation of the Citation and presentation documents is available if requested before receipt of item. All questions in advance. I will answer all coherent, respectful inquiries to the best of my ability. Please see my other listings. Lots of excellent Soviet medals! Many additional high quality pieces available that are not yet listed.

This Medals was awarded to Soviet Internationalist. For participation In Caribbean incident with USA. The Cuban Missile Crisis, also known as the October Crisis of 1962 (Spanish: Crisis de Octubre), the Caribbean Crisis Russian:??????????????? , tr. Karibsky krizis, IPA: [k?'r? Ipsk?? j'kr? Iz?? s], or the Missile Scare, was a 13-day (October 16-28, 1962) confrontation between the United States and the Soviet Union initiated by American ballistic missile deployment in Italy and Turkey with consequent Soviet ballistic missile deployment in Cuba. The confrontation is often considered the closest the Cold War came to escalating into a full-scale nuclear war. In response to the failed Bay of Pigs Invasion of 1961 and the presence of American Jupiter ballistic missiles in Italy and Turkey, Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev agreed to Cuba’s request to place nuclear missiles on the island to deter a future invasion. An agreement was reached during a secret meeting between Khrushchev and Fidel Castro in July 1962, and construction of a number of missile launch facilities started later that summer. The 1962 United States elections were under way, and the White House had for months denied charges that it was ignoring dangerous Soviet missiles 90 miles (140 km) from Florida. The missile preparations were confirmed when an Air Force U-2 spy plane produced clear photographic evidence of medium-range (SS-4) and intermediate-range (R-14) ballistic missile facilities. The US established a naval blockade on October 22 to prevent further missiles from reaching Cuba; Oval Office tapes during the crisis revealed that Kennedy had also put the blockade in place as an attempt to provoke Soviet-backed forces in Berlin as well.
