Wonderful attributed contemporary RAF miniature medal group of 10: KCB, OBE (Mil) DFC AND BAR (GVI), AFC (GVI), 1939-45, ACE (F&G BAR) AFRICA STARS, DEF AND WAR (MID) QEII CORONATION MEDALS, ALL LOOSE MOUNTED ON A BAR WITH ORIGINAL RIBBONS. These medals belonged to Air Chief Marshall Sir Anthony Heard (39044) there is some accompanying research. Sorry for typo’s Title should read original and his surname is Heward. Boer War Miniature Medal pair to Lord Strathcona’s Horse, KIA WW1 as Captain, KOSB, Father a Famous Archdeacon / Missionary. The pair of miniature dress medals named to Private A. Shaw; King’s South Africa Medal 1901-02, 1 clasp, South Africa 1901 A. Shaw, contemporarily engraved naming. Alexander James Macintosh Shaw was born in Tokyo, Japan to Archdeacon Alexander Croft Shaw and Mary Ann Cattell. His father was born in Toronto and was descended from a noted Scottish Military Family and became an important Missionary serving mainly in Japan and China (see link below). He served with Lord Strathcona’s Horse in South Africa. Shaw’s full-size awards were delivered to him in 1906 whilst he was serving with the Peking Syndicate, Chias-Tzo, North China; with medal roll confirmation of attribution and a few service papers, listing his occupation in 1900 a Surveyor. Alexander James Mackintosh Shaw graduated from Oxford University, and married Eve Grace Woodroffe. Alexander was subsequently killed in action during the Battle of the Somme near Beaumont-Hamel, France on 9th July 1916. His name is commemorated on the memorial to allied soldiers of the First World War at the Yokohama Foreign General Cemetery. He was at that time serving in the British Army as a Captain in the 1st Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. See wikipidea for more info on this family under Alexander Croft Shaw. German 1870 Franco Prussian War 1870 Iron Cross 2. Class, with 25 year oak Leaf clasp, full size & miniature. 42mm wide, 3 piece made cross, with majority of black finish to central core, with toned 2 piece frame. Oak leaf clasp with good detail features and bright numerals. Full size medal comes with the scarce requisite miniature. Miniature Medal Group Gallantry DSO, OBE, India General Service, Boer War, WW1

An original and genuine mounted for wear collection of miniature medals including the DSO and OBE awarded to an officer who served with the British Army from the 19th Century until the First World War. The group contains the following. Distinguished Service Order in gold and enamel, Order of the British Empire Military in silver gilt, India General Service Medal with the clasps for Punjab Frontier 1897-98 and Tirah 1897-98, Queens Boer War / South Africa Medal with the clasps for Elandslaagte, Defence of Ladysmith, Belfast and South Africa 1902, 1914-15 Star, War Medal and Victory Medal with Mentioned in Dispatches Oak Leaf. The medals have been stitched and mounted onto a metal pin bar by the recipient. The medals are bar are in generally good, original condition. The DSO and 1914-15 star have come lose from their ribbons but these could easily be reattached. The DSO has also lost the reverse central section although this cannot be seen from the front. An interesting and complete group of gallantry medals to an office of the British army which is worthy of more research to try and find out who the recipient was. A complete collection of original miniature military medals from the Boer War to the Indian North West Frontier in 1935 including the Military Cross for Gallantry. British Military Cross for Gallantry. British WW1 War Medal. Boer War Queens South Africa Medal. India General Service Medal with North West Frontier 1935 Clasp. British WW1 1914-15 Star. Boer War Kings South Africa Medal with clasps for South Africa 1901 and South Africa 1902. British WW1 Victory Medal. Efficiency Decoration George VI with India Bar. The medals are all original, period and in good condition and would have been awarded to the same recipient. The medals have been sown onto a strip of black material.
