World War Medals

An Original and Nicely Struck WW1 Era British Military Medal issued for Bravery in the Field to 19904 Pte W. Carter 8 / R HIGHRS: The Silver British Military Medal was instituted in March of 1916 and was issued to NCOs and men of the Army for acts of Bravery not of sufficient heroism as to merit the Distinguished Conduct Medal. The British Military Medal, with the effigy of the monarch, George V, in Silver, is officially impressed 19904 Pte W. Carter 8 / R HIGHRS : or Royal Highlanders along the edge. I did a very quick research, but did not find anything on Private Carter. The medal is brightly polished, sharply struck, sharply detailed and in VF Condition, some surface scratches from being handled and/or polished. The impressed name on the edge is quite clear and sharp as well! This is a WW1 period Valor medal to a Veteran of the British Empire.
