His Colt Model 1908. These are Whisner’s post war ribbon bars. The portrait of Whisner came from a Chinese book resulting in poor resolution of the photo. Whisner was an advisor to Chiang Kai Shek at one point in his career. Whisner’s bio is after the description of the second ribbon bar. Please note I have had the clutches off the ribbon bars and were not put back on in the correct order. US Army narrow Wolf Brown plastic ribbon bar. Ribbon bar is clutch back. Has awards for the Bronze Star Medal, WWI Victory Medal, WWI Army of Occupation Medal. Note in Whisner’s photo these may be the same ribbons. Has ribbons for the American Defense Service Medal with one bronze star, Pacific Theater Medal with 2 bronze stars, and WWII Victory Medal. BG Emons Bertram Whisner, 24 Aug 1895-27 Sep 1984. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from the University of Missouri in 1917. He was comissioned a 2Lt Infantry in 1917. There is no indication he served overseas during the war. He was on the island during the Pearl Harbor attack on 7 Dec 1941. He was executive Officer MAAG where he served as advisor to Chiang Kai Shek. He retired from active duty 31 July 1953. He attained the rank of BG Jan 45, reverted to Colonel March 46, retired as a Brigadier General in 1953. Decorations include the Legion of Merit with OLC, Bronze Star Medal, and Chinese Order of Hun Hai. The Army Register for 1958 lists a basic award of the LOM and the BSM has the OLC. In the 1959 Army Register the LOM has the OLC and the BSM is only a basic award. He is buried, along with his wife, in the Little Rock National Cemetery, Arkansas. He was endorsed in 1936 by Franklin D. The correspondence can be found in Franklin D. 1936 at FDR’s Presidential Library. This information can be found in Air Force reports. Ribbon bars show normal wear/tear associated with age. They are the plastic Wolf Brown narrow army type and in my opinion are in very good condition for age. Normal wear and tear associated with age.

The USS Phonex was laded down in 1935 and launched on 12 March 1938. She was commissioned later that year. Her shakedown cruise took her to South America eventually homeporting in Pearl Harbor. She was there on 7 December 1941 during the Japanese suprise attack. She was soon underway and escaped unscathed. During the course of WWII she earned 11 Battle Stars and earned the nickname “Lucky Phoenix”. Her luck ran out when she was torpedoed and sunk during the Falklands War on 2 May 1982 by the HMS Conqueror with heavy loss of life. Commissioni9ng Cover for the CL-46 USS Phoenix dated 9 Oct 1938. In West Philadelphia, PA. Stamed on front and back with Hutnick’s name. ARA General Belgrano Medal. Medal is approximately 1 1/2 in diameter. Has space on back for engraving. Letter/envelope shows normal wear/tear associated with age. This includes toning with age. Medal shows toning with age. There may be minor age related defects. Group from Major General Carroll H. The group includes two Legion of Merit medals, both wrap brooch (one with an oak leaf cluster), Bronze Star, WWI and Occupation medals, WWII campaign medals, sterling pin back General Stars, a rare “Pissed in the Rhine” membership club with a photo of him doing so, original Legion of Merit certificate and citation, Dog tag, ribbon bars, pins, insignia, photos, and documents as shown. Some copied research and an original signed portrait photo are also included. Major General Carroll H. Deitrick was born in Watsontown, Pennsylvania on April 11, 1898. General Deitrick began his career as an assistant Ordnance Officer with the Hawaiian Ordnance Depot in the 1920s, and first came to Aberdeen Proving Ground as an assistant proof officer in 1930. Tours of duty with the Supply Division in the old Office Chief of Ordnance, as Commander of the Ogden Ordnance Depot in Utah, and at Picatinny Arsenal followed in the next decade. During World War II, he held important staff positions in Washington, and during the period from November 1944 until May 1945, was Chief Ammunition Officer and Deputy to the Chief Ordnance Officer in the European Theater of Operations. Production plants to the front lines. In the post-war period, he also served as Chief of the Cincinnati Ordnance District and as Chief of the Inspection Branch and Executive Officer, Office Chief of Ordnance. He subsequently served tours as Commanding General of Watertown Arsenal and the Tank-Automotive Center in Detroit. His final assignment was that of Commanding General of Aberdeen Proving Ground during the years 1956 to 1958. General Deitrick retired in 1958 and died in 1973. Display case shown is NOT included. Original George VI General Service Medal with malaya clasp. It also comes with its original box and issue paperwork to Mr W George. This medal is in very good condition as is the ribbon attached.
