Entitled to 1939-45, Air Crew Europe Star Defence and War Medal. Box of issue with Condolence Slip and Condolence Letter are Original items. The 1939-45 Star, Air Cew Europe Star (Copy) Defence & War Medal. CWGC documents, 90 Squadron Losses. Image of Burial site including full crew list and CWGC Certificates for all crew members and a Copy Replacement Scroll. The Box is Named to Mrs MacTavish (Mother). Fathers Medals Lt Gordon Mitchell Humphrey MacTavish serving with the RNVR at H. S Vernon Bomb Disposal & Mine Clearance who died in service 1947. Previous service WW1 RNVR as a Pay Master Sub Lt. World War One trio of medals to Stephen John WEBBER Royal Berkshire Regiment. 1914-15 Star named 12725 Pte S. British war medal 12725 Pte S. Victory medal as war medal. The ribbons on the War and Victory medals are transposed but this is how they were originally mounted so I left them like it. Stephen John WEBBER of the Royal Berkshire Regiment is listed of having died of wounds on 1st July 1916. His medal card shows D. Soldiers died in the great war gives his date of death as 1st July 1916 in Western European Theatre. The register of soldiers effects shows that he died of wounds on 1st July 1916. He was brought up in Princess Alice’s Orphanage in Erdington. The 1911 census entry comes with the medals. The book Soldiers killed on the first day of the Somme lists Stephen John WEBBER of the Royal Berkshire Regiment 12725 D. He was in the 6th Battalion. AN ABSOLUTELY SUPERB FRAMED GROUP OF WW1 BRITISH OFFICERS MEDALS ALL CORRECTLY IMPRESSED NAMING TO LIEUT AND CAPTAIN L. ALL NICELY FITTED IN THEIR CONTEMPORARY GLAZED FRAME WITH ORIGINAL RIBBONS. THE OTHER INTERSTING ITEMS ARE A SET OF BEDFORDSHIRE REGIMENT OFFICERS BUTTONS AND A SHRAPNEL BALL WHICH HAS STRUCK SOMETHING. (POSSIBLY A SOUVENIR FROM ONE OF HIS TWO WOUNDS) CONTAINED IN AN OLD CLOTH BAG. LEONARD JONSTON JONES WAS TWICE WOUNDED DURING THE GREAT WAR. HE WENT TO FRANCE WITH THE 1ST BN ON THE 24TH NOVEMBER 1914. HE IS MENTIONED SEVERAL TIMES IN THE BEDFORDSHIRE REGIMENT WAR DIARY. HIS FIRST WOUND WAS DURING THE FAMOUS BATTLE FOR HILL 60 IN MAY 1915 WHILST HE WAS WORKING HIS WAY UP FROM THE SUPPORT TRENCHES. UNFORTUNATELY HE NEVER REALLY RECOVERED FROM HIS SECOND WOUND AND DIED ON 5TH MAY 1921. HIS MEDALS WERE SENT TO HIS MOTHER IN PARIS IN 1921. A SUPERB AND 100% GENUINE GROUP TO AN OFFICER CASUALTY WHO SAW MUCH FIGHTING DURING THE GREAT WAR. MEDAL INDEX CARD CONFIRMS JUST WAR AND VICTORY MEDAL ENTITLEMENT. SUFFERED GUNSHOT WOUND TO HEAD ON THE FIRST DAY OF BATTLE OF FLERS COURCELETTE ON THE SOMME 26TH SEPT 1916. ACCORDING TO THE CANADIAN PAPERS THAT ARE ONLINE HE WAS REPORTED MISSING AND LAID OUT IN NO MANS LAND FOR A DAY UNTIL FOUND NEXT DAY AND MOVED TO 5TH CANADIAN FIELD AMBULANCE WHERE HE DIED ON THE 27TH. HERBERT CAMPBELL CHAMBERS BORN IN DYSART ROAD GRANTHAM ENGLAND IN 1883. BURIED AT COURCELETTE CEMETERY FRANCE AGED 34 YEARS.
