ORIGINAL – WW1 VICTORY NOVEMBER 11,1918 TABLE MEDAL AS SEEN by ALEXANDRE MORLON. RARELY SEEN FRENCH VERSION OF THE WW1 VICTORY NOVEMBER 11,1918 TABLE MEDAL AS SEEN by PIERRE-ALEXANDRE MORLON b. (THE OTHER VERSION BEING AMERICAN). THIS LISTING IS FOR ONLY ONE MEDAL WITH VICTORY WEARING A WW1 FRENCH HELMET AND THE TITLE VICTOIRE. 36 years old at the start of hostilities with Germany in 1914, Alexandre Morlon was recalled to service on November 24, 1914 in the French Army’s automobile service of the 13th Artillery Regiment. He remained in the combat zone from Dec. 1917, moving from the 13th Artillery Regiment to the 20th train squadron June 1916 then to the 19th train squadron Nov. These years at the front marked him deeply and affected his style. His post-war medals and war memorials remain full of respect for the combatants of the Great War. DESIGNER MARKED ON THE OBVERSE. The medal is bronze, circular and 36 millimeters (1.4 in) in diameter. While originally to be of dull bronze, the final award had a clear lacquer coating. Giving it a bright finish. It was designed by William McMillan. The obverse shows the winged, full-length, full-front, figure of’Victory’ (or’Victoria’). With her left arm extended and holding a palm branch in her right hand. Similar to the statue surmounting the Queen Victoria Memorial. In front of Buckingham Palace in London. All surrounded by a laurel wreath. Original WW2 Soviet Russian Medal ORDER of the RED STAR. Low number: 323164 – Year: 1943 This solid silver and enamel award with. Nickel silver screw plate. Is type 3 / variant 1 and was produced in the second half of 1943. Weight without screw plate: 28.9 grams. The Order of the Red Star is a red enamelled 47mm to 50mm wide (depending on the variant) silver five pointed star. In the center of the obverse, an oxydised silver shield bearing the image of an erect soldier wearing an overcoat and carrying a rifle, along the shield’s entire circumference, a narrow band bearing the Communist motto in relief, Workers of the world, unite! », the band below the soldier bore the relief inscription “USSR” Russian: «???? Below the shield, the hammer and sickle also of oxydised silver. The otherwise plain reverse bore the maker’s mark and the award serial number. ORIGINAL – WW1 U. ARMY 79th DIVISION BRONZE TABLE MEDAL FRANCE c1919. Titled: 1917 FRANCE 1918. Obverse: Doughboy running across the trenches of France. Reverse: Battlefields of France map with Cross of Lorraine and marked. Condition of the medal is extremely fine with original lustre and a nice old bronze patina. Condition of this original rarely seen 2 piece paper board case is very good with some paper board loss to the rims and a light scuffing on the faces. Designed by Marcel Lordonnois 1919. Comes with the original 2 piece round paper board case / container. US ARMY 79th INFANTRY Division.
