I do not have any background information on this item. The frame has issues, as it is missing one side. The backing is coming loose and is torn.

US National Team Match Military & Naval Challenge Trophy Medal 1920′s.
Excellent condition as shown. Makers marked by Bailey, Banks & Biddle of Philadelphia. Hallmarked “GF” for “Gold Filled”. Very hard to find medal in any condition from this early era, which I feel is the 1910′s to the 1930′s based on the makers mark. It has the original medal drape, but is missing the pin assembly. These WWI to WWII pin assembly’s are readily available, and would just need to be sewn into the ribbon after folding the two top portions together. We listed this in the condition it was received and don’t clean of “fix” our items to preserve their originality. Three World War I German Military items. The three items belonged to a US World War I soldier and the three items came from the family of this World War I US soldier that served in France during WWI. There is a medal showing a German soldier with wording translated below. An enameled Iron Cross with crossed swords hanging badge, translated below and the back has the. Makers name in Hamburg, Germany. The third item is an enameled Iron Cross and crossed swords stick pin. The medal wording is below with the translation. ICH HATT EINEN KAMERADEN. I HAD A COMRADE, AT THE JEWELRY OF THE REST OF STAATTEN OUR BRAVE HALF WHO HELD THIS IRON SIGN. FLECK SOHN, HAMBURG 3. FLECK SON, HAMBURG 3. The stickpin has the following initials. All three items are in very nice condition with no cracks or chips to the enamel. The medal is 1 ¼ inches across in size. The badge is 1 7/8 x 1 7/8 inches. The stickpin is 2 11/16 inches in length.
Here’s a nice Goodwill find. A WW2 USMC medal grouping that belonged to a Gilbert M. His name is engraved on the back of the Marine Good Conduct Medal. Included in this grouping are the following: USMC Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, World War ll Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, National Defense Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Joint Meritorious Medal, Expert Rifleman Badge, Enlisted Aircrew Wings, and 4th Marine Air Wing Patch. The medals are in good condition, have a nice patina, and you can tell these were actually worn on a service members uniform. The grouping is housed in a picture frame measuring approximately 10 3/4″ x 8 3/4″. There is some wear, dings, and scuff marks on the picture frame. This is a nice grouping that would make a great addition to your USMC collection. The posted photographs are an important part of the physical description. Closely view all of them, so you may judge for yourself the condition, quality, and age of the items.
