3x Pre WW2 New York Long Service Medal Documents Naval Militia Very Rare pair of 20 year and 10 year long and 15 year. Service documents very very rare and hard to find the original documents im not sure why i guess soldiers just didnt keep them. Even rarer due to the fact they are to a naval militia man which would have had very few men in it compared to other services. The documents are very nice but show minor wear and one has some minor roughness at the top! Both were awarded to Yeoman Harold J Searchfield. If you have the medals that match these these would add a ton of value to the medals! Dont miss your chance to own an extremely rare set of documents! The collector from whom the document were originally acquired found the 15 year document and sent it to me to complete the set! Price has been risen and listing updated from 2 docs to 3 docs. Very rare complete set now! I have risen the price 35 dollars do account for this now being a complete set and the addition of a document! 10751? German army post WW2 1957 pattern Long Service Award 4 Years Medal

Original German post WW2 Military Long Service Medal for 4 Years / 1957 pattern, IN VERY GOOD WORN CONDITION – A VERY NICE DETAILED EARLY EXAMPLE ON GENUINE RIBBON, MAKER: ST&L (STEINHAUER & LUECK), THE AWARD IS NOT OFTEN SEEN. FEW FACTS ABOUT 1957 PATTERN AWARDS. In 1957 the West German government authorised replacement Iron Crosses with an Oak Leaf Cluster in place of the swastika, similar to the Iron Crosses of 1813, 1870, and 1914, which could be worn by World War II Iron Cross recipients. The 1957 law also authorised de-Nazified versions of most other World War II-era decorations (except those specifically associated with Nazi Party organizations, such as SS Long Service medals, or with the expansion of the German Reich, such as the medals for the annexation of Austria, the Sudetenland, and the Memel region). The main government contract to manufacture and supply these new de-nazified WW2 1957 official decorations went to the world famous German firm Steinhauer & Lueck, Luedenscheid Germany. Knights Crosses, Iron Crosses, Wound Badges, Tank Assault Badges etc were re-designed by Steinhauer & Lück – often with the oak-leaf spray replacing the swastika, with S&L having the sole patent rights to all WW2 1957 German decorations. S&L did not have the whole monopoly on medal making, other famous firms such as Deschler & Sohn, BH Maher and Juncker also manufactured these new German decorations. Lüdenscheid is situated between the cities Dortmund and Bonn. It was here that one of the youngest medal firms was founded in 1889 by August Steinhauer and Gustav Adolf Lück. The first production began in a cellar, the customer base continued to increase. A property was bought at 51 Hochstrasse which is still home for this famous company today. During WW2 Steinhauer & Lück produced medals and badges, like the famous Knights Cross and many other types of medals and badges. In 1957 this company was awarded the contract to produce all the newly re-designed legal WW2 1957 de-nazified decorations, plus the contract to manufacture all of Germany’s official decorations including Germany’s highest order the Bundesverdienstkreuz. Only a very limited number of original WW2 1957 medals are still produced, mainly Iron Crosses, German Cross Gold & Silver & Wound Badges and are considered 100% genuine by the German Government. HISTORY OF THE AWARD. Long Service Award (Wehrmacht-Dienstauszeichnungen) – A year after the reinstitution of the draft Germany reinstated the Long Service Awards (March 16th, 1936). All members of the Armed Forces were eligible for the award which was bestowed in five classes; four years, twelve years, eighteen years, twenty five years and fifty years. The four year service medal was mat silver and had on the obverse the Wehrmacht Eagle and the inscription “Treue Diesnste in der Wehrmacht” (Loyal Service in the Armed Forces). On the reverse it bore only the number 4 in the center surrounded by oak leaves. The twelve year award was the same design but slightly larger, in bronze, and with the number “12″ replacing the “4″ on the reverse. Those who served eighteen years were presented a silver Maltese cross featuring the Wehrmacht eagle in the center obverse and the number “18″ on reverse. The same design was maintained for the next and highest class, awarded to those veterans who served twenty five years. The cross in this instance was gold, larger, and naturally had “25″ on the reverse. A special grade for 40 years of service was also approved; This was an oak leaves set which was worn on the ribbon of the 25 years award. All levels of the award were held on blue ribbons with the appropriate branch of service attached to it. It was either the spread wing eagle for the Army and Navy or the flying eagle for the Air Force. Only two long service awards were to be worn at the same time. The 4 and 12 year classes were obviously to be worn together, but once the individual received the 25 year class, he would wear it with the 4 year class, and if the 40 year class were achieved then it would be worn with the 12 year class. The award was worn as part of a group or in the ribbon bar for daily wear. During its early years of existence the award was normally constructed of German silver and heavily plated, but from 1942 on it was made from gold or silver washed zinc. During the last year of the war, presentation of the award ceased. This item is in the category “Collectables\Militaria\World War II (1939-1945)\Medals/ Ribbons”. WW2 Royal Navy Long Service Group of 5 Medals, Battle for Malta @ HMS St. Angel

WW2 Royal Navy Long Service Group of Five Medals, Battle for Malta where he served at the HMS St. Malta and the Gunnery emplacements at HMS St. Angelo (a castle guarding the deep water harbour vital to the Allies) was one of the heaviest bombed places by the Nazi war machine, desperate to capture the island, and if not bomb it into dust as it was key to the North African Battles and the attacks the allies made on Italy. Please note two-thirds of the Royal Navy Personal serving at HMS St. Angelo during WW2 were killed in action by the bombing, so GHA Lee is a very lucky and very brave man who stayed in the Navy after the War. This Group of five comprises. All unnamed as issued and a King George VI R. Long Service and Good Conduct Medal named to M. Lee SCPO HMS St Angelo. These are mounted as worn with accompanying miniatures and miniature ribbon bar. After service in the Second World War Gordon Lee established a successful career in the Royal Navy, a temporarily Commissioned Stores Officer from 26th May 1945. He ended his career with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He is the only person to have survived the battle of Malta and gone from non commissioned to higher commissioned Royal Navy Officer, a unique person with an incredible story to tell. Is a bastioned fort in Malta, located at the centre of the Grand Harbour. It was originally built in the medieval period as a castle, and then was rebuilt by the Order of Saint John as a bastioned fort called Fort Saint Angelo between the 1530s and the 1560s. It is best known for its role as the Order’s headquarters during the Great Siege of Malta of 1565. A major reconstruction to designs of fort took place in the 1690s, giving the fort its current appearance, the fort was eventually garrisoned by the British from 1800 to 1979, at times being classified as a stone frigate known as. The fort suffered considerable damage during World War II, but it was later restored. It was fitted during WW2 with the. Often referred to simply as the. It was one of the most popular medium-weight anti-aircraft systems during World War 2 used by most of the western Allies and the only real defence against the bombing of Malta. Mr Lee would have commanded such a gun with a crew during bombing raids which happened several times a day at its height. See images for pictures of the gun and of Malta during WW2. The pictures do not do it justice at all, but are important to show the condition. Please be patient, we promise to get your item to you as soon as humanly possible. I cannot guarantee when this will be but it will be as soon as we can under the current circumstances & restrictions. The Medals are. General Service Medal Palestine (correctly named). Territorial Efficiency DecoratIon. Cadet Force Long Service and Good Conduct Medal. With second award bar and a. Bronze University Medal (cased). This is a rare group featuring Triple Long Service awards. Full details of the Regimental Diary are in the book The Royal Berkshire Regiment 10th Battalion in the Second World War produced by the The Rifles (Berkshire and Wiltshire) Museum which is also included in this sale. Stuart was born on the 13th September 1913 and educated at Edinburgh University, where he gained a degree in French. On the 5th April 1941, Stuart was commissioned from the Officer Cadet Training Unit as a 2nd Lieutenant in the 10th Battalion, Royal Berkshire Regiment (full details of the regiment during the war are contained on the). The following is a summary of the Battalions War Diary, interspersed with relevant facts regarding Stuart. January 1942:still in Suffolk commenced intensive training. 28 August 1942: Set sail from Liverpool. 1st October 1942: Stuart promoted to Lieutenant. 05 November 1942: Landed at Basra, Iraq. They then moved on to Kirkuk for further training. March 1943: Left for Egypt where they continued their training. June 1943: Went to Gaza where they were ordered to waterproof all their vehicles. July 1943: Set sail for invasion of Sicily – codenamed Operation Husky. 12 July 1943: Landed. Their first aation was at Fossa Bottaceto and they suffered heavy casualties. Remained for a further five days under fire at a place they named “Berkshire Farm” before being withdrawn into reserve. They were then involved in operations around Primasole. 05 August 1943: They took part in the General Advance after the German defences were breached at Etna. 10 October 1943: Moved to Italy and in the same month went on to a position at Pignataro then after took part in the attack on the ridge at Calvi Risorta followed by further actions at Teano, Gloriana and Roccamonfina. Winter of 1943: In action at the River Garigliano and Monte Camino. Early December 1943: Battalion was relieved and moved to Casanova. 20 January 1944: The Battalion themselves crossed the river. 21 January 1944: The Battalion arrived and occupied Mount Damiano. They were instantly attacked repeatedly by the Germans from dawn onwards. 22 January 1944: That afternoon the Battalion had experienced the heaviest shelling ever. They still managed to hold the hill. Fighting continued for a few more days. 25 January 1944: Were relieved and was able to have a short rest. They became part of an independent brigade group. 02 February 1944: Landed in Anzio, Italy and took up position north of the town. 05 February 1944: Took over part of the line near Carroceto from the divisional reconnaissance regiment. 25th February 1944: Stuart was Severely wounded in action. 04 March 1944: The Battalion a long with the Division were sent back to Egypt to re fit. April 1944: the Battalion disbanded due to the lack of manpower. Most of the men remaining transferred to other units within the 56th (London) division known as the Black cats (Divisional sign). Further details of Stuarts service during the war would be worthy of research as he also saw service with the 2nd Battalion, Sherwood Foresters in Palestine during the Jewish Revolt. He then relinquished his commission on appointment to The Territorial Army on the 31st July 1946 and joined the Junior Training Corps, Abingdon School ContIngent as a 2nd Lieutenant on the same day. On the 1st April 1950 Stuart, sIll serving with the Abingdon School ConIngent (now part of the Combined Cadet Force) was promoted to Lieutenant and on the 11th April 1951 he was made ActIng Major. On the 17th March 1959, Stuart was awarded the Territorial Efficiency DecoraIon and on the 1st July 1960, he relinquished his Commission in the Regular Reserve of Officers with the rank of Lieutenant (sIll remaining in service with the Combined Cadet Force – Abingdon School ConIngent). On the 1st April 1961 Stuart was promoted to Lieutenant-Colonel and on the 30th January 1973 he was awarded the Cadet Forces Medal. In September 1973 Stuart is reported in the Abingdonian Magazine to have relinquished command of the Abingdon School ConIngent, Combined Cadet Force. At the end of the term Colonel Parker relinquished the command of the CCF, which he had held for some seventeen years. In that time the size of the Corps has more than doubled and advanced naval and air sections have been added to its establishment. Successive Inspecting Officers have paid high tribute to the efficiency of the Corps under Colonel Parkers command and new would thank him on behalf of the school for all that the has done. Despite the above, The London Gazette records that he resigned his Commission in the Abingdon School ConIngent, Combined Cadet Force on the 13th September 1978 with the rank of Lieutenant- Colonel. Sadly on the 28th June 1981, Stuart passed away. The item “WW2 Medal Group Lieutenant Colonel Berkshire Regiment Rare Triple Long Servic” is in sale since Sunday, August 8, 2021.
