Soviet Russian USSR Cold War documented medal group consisting of a Medal for Combat Service (or Medal for Combat Merit) with document awarded 27 June 1989 to KGB Border Guard Oleg Vladimirovich Chernyshenko for actions during the Soviet War in Afghanistan! As a rule, direct archival research for awards of this nature (KGB/Border Guards) is not possible. The attribution on hand (“border guard” “Soviet-Afghan War”) was provided by experienced researchers who have had opportunities to examine relevant archival documents in the past. The authenticity of this image is highly dubious to say the least. It is therefore not included in the listing images and should not be considered part of the lot. Condition is excellent , as seen in the images! Some markings to booklet pages. All questions in advance. I will answer all coherent, respectful inquiries to the best of my ability. This is an original government engraved USCG Good Conduct medal named to. U. S. C. G. I think Patrol was a C. Boat assigned to the New York Harbor area at the time. They would have been knee deep in Rum Runners during his era. The ring attached to the planchette was repaired as a previous owner twisted it. They did a nice job.
Wonderful Pre WW2-WW2 Sword and Medal Grouping Of. Allen who was commissioned as a first lieutenant on July 19th, 1934. He served honorably for over 30 Years and even served on Mac Arthurs staff in the pacific during WW2. Colonel Leonard Stebbins Allen was born in Hinton, West Virginia in 1912. His military career began in 1929 at the Citizens Military Training Corps in New York. He was later commissioned as a 1st Lieutenant and ordered to active duty in 1941 with the Coastal Artillery Corps. After numerous assignments and promotions, Lieutenant Colonel Allen served on General Douglas MacArthur’s staff in the pacific theater until 1945. Later joining the New York National Guard, commanding a guard battalion. In 1951 Allen was ordered to active service during the Korean war and served as a Brigade and Group Executive Officer. Promoted once more, Colonel Allen became the Chief of New York City Selective Service Section Chief up until his retirement in 1972 after serving 30+ years in the Armed Forces. Blade length: 30″, overall: 35 1/2″. Engraved near the riccasso Presented to Brigadier General L. Allen 1934 – 1972 by NYC SEL SVC SEC & HHD NYARNG. Steel scabbard with chain hanger. 3 WW2 Medal Grouping (3). 4 Ny National Guard Medals. One NYNG 20 Year service! (one Sterling Silver) NYNG Conspicuous Service Medal Beautiful heavy silver medal. 22 US Army Dui Badges. 9TH Bullion Patch Large US Army Hat Device. Also Several photos and a nice grouping of ephemera pertaining to Allens career. All contained in two beautiful period cases with one lid adorned with Beautiful NYNG Placard and the other painted with the design of the 9th. WW1 PENNSYLVANIA NATIONAL GUARD GENERAL THOMAS J. WITH ORIGINAL RIBBON AND RIBBON PIN SUSPENSION. America entered the war during the last two years. The division took part in six major campaigns in France and Belgium resulting in more than 14,000 battle casualties. With its entry into the war, the American forces helped turn the tide to the Allied victory. On July 15, 1918, elements of the division beat back German attacks along the Marne River. Pockets of division Soldiers were surrounded and cut off but fought at the company and platoon level in a ferocious defense of their positions, beating their way through German lines and back to secondary defensive positions. The 28th Division’s defiant stand earns its soldiers the moniker “Men of Iron” from General of the Armies John Pershing, commander of the Allied Armies.
ORIGINAL 1907 PATTERN UNITED STATES ARMY NATIONAL GUARD PISTOL EXPERT BADGE, PIN-BACK W/ “C” CATCH. The US Army specified the first pistol qualification badges for National Guard troops in 1907. To set them apart from Regular Army badges, the army made them is a gold color that regulations called bronze. At this time the Regular Army did not have any pistol badges.
