Alfred Eric Marshall served in India during the NW Frontier operations with the Royal Signals as a Corporal, earning him the medal and two clasps which are both confirmed on the rolls. He then served during World War II reaching the rank of Warrant Officer Class One, then on 4 December 1950 he was awarded a Short Service Commission as a Lieutenant and Quartermaster with the Royal Signals (London Gazette). Promotion to Captain followed on 21 August 1954, then on 23 January 1959 having reached the age of retirement he ceases to belong to the Reserve of Officers (both dates London Gazette). Otherwise we have done no research at all on Mr Marshall, so a nice little project for the Signals collector.
