The WWII Medals are unnamed as issued, the India General Service and LS&GC Medal are named as follows. India General Service Medal with NW Frontier 1936-37 and 1937-39 clasps to: 2320051 CPL. GviR (1st issue) Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal to: 2320051. 1939 France & Germany Star. 1939-45 British War Medal. The medals are all in gVF condition or better, WWII medals unconfirmed. Alfred Eric Marshall served in India during the NW Frontier operations with the Royal Signals as a Corporal, earning him the medal and two clasps which are both confirmed on the rolls. He then served during World War II reaching the rank of Warrant Officer Class One, then on 4 December 1950 he was awarded a Short Service Commission as a Lieutenant and Quartermaster with the Royal Signals (London Gazette). Promotion to Captain followed on 21 August 1954, then on 23 January 1959 having reached the age of retirement he ceases to belong to the Reserve of Officers (both dates London Gazette). Otherwise we have done no research at all on Mr Marshall, so a nice little project for the Signals collector. Documents included are two copies of the rolls for his India General Service Medal clasps, plus three copies of the London Gazette announcing his commission, promotion and his retirement from the Reserve of Officers.
