Rare WW1 Bronze British War Medal Chinese Labour Corps Casualty

I have been clearing a few items from my fathers estate, this medal I remember playing with as a child in the early 1970′s, according to my father he was given the medal as a boy in London from a Chinese family who lived nearby and who worked in the docks area, they told him the recipient of the medal had died in the first world war, my brother was able to check with the Commonwealth war graves people and download a copy of the certificate commemorating his death. The medal which comes in the rarer bronze metal is marked around the rim with: No 40732 Chinese L. C, the certificate shows that this relates to Labourer Lo Hai Ch’lng 40732 100. Coy Chinese Labour Corps who died on 22 November 1917 and who is remembered with honour at the Arques-La-Bataille British cemetery. To go with the medal is a small brass trench art shell case pot, this is marked to the base Aug 1918 with other numbers and symbols, the outside of the pot is very faintly decorated (and hard to photograph) with two fish and two flower pots and running from top to bottom are two lines of Chinese characters, obviously I havent the first clue what this means but I would like to think that it is in celebration of Lo Hai Ch’lng’s life. The medal is very dirty and the ribbon is very rough, there is a bump on the edge near the number, the shell case is in good condition but faintly decorated as previously stated, this stands 3.5 inches high. The item “Rare WW1 Bronze British War Medal Chinese Labour Corps Casualty” is in sale since Sunday, December 04, 2016. This is a scarce and interesting WW1 casualty medal group in contemporary frame to Pte Alexander Douglas Jeffrey who served in the Army Cyclist corps. The medals are frame with the soldiers death plaque and scroll. Medals have been in frame for a very long time and appear to all be correctly impressed”34 Pte A Jeffrey A Cyc Corps”. Pte Jeffrey had a very low service number of 34. I believe Alexander Jeffrey was from Glasgow and was shot in the chest and died of wounds in September 1915. This most likely took place at Gallipoli. I also have his brothers medal group for sale on another listing. He served with the Irish regiment in Gallipoli and was mentioned in despatches. His medal group also being contemporary framed. Both medal groups have both come privately from a house call. Any questions please feel free to ask. A VERY SCARCE FULL SIZE1914 15 TRIO OF MEDALS CORRECTLY NAMED TO 22828 PTE. WITH TWO VERY NICE ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPH POST CARDS OF THE RECIPIENT. THEY HAVE A VERY UNUSUAL MOUNT WHICH CONSISTS OF THREE BARS SOLDERED TO THE BACK OF THE SUSPENSION BAR TO PREVENT THE MEDALS FROM SWINGING TYPICAL OF THE GUARDS. THIS HAS NOT DAMAGED THE MEDALS IN ANY WAY WHICH ARE ALL FREE MOVING. THEY ARE ON THEIR ORIGINAL RIBBONS. WHAT IS NICE ABOUT THIS GROUP IS THAT JACK SHOESMITH JOINED THE GRENADIER GUARDS IN 1915 AND THEN WAS INCORPORATED INTO THE SCARCE GUARDS MACHINE GUN REGIMENT WHICH IS CONFIRMED ON HIS MEDAL INDEX CARD AND HIS PENSION PAPERS WHICH ARE ON ANCESTRY. MEDAL INDEX CARD CONFIRM CHANGE OF ARMY NUMBER WHEN HE TRANSFERRED TO GMGR. A VERY SCARCE SET OF MEDALS 100% GENUINE.
