This vintage WW2 Persian Gulf Command Baseball Medal is a true collector’s item. The design of the medal features a baseball player swinging a bat with the letters P. G C written on the medal. This piece is perfect for collectors of militaries or those interested in the history of World War II. The insignia of the Persian Gulf Command is featured on the top center. Gold Filled on sterling silver.
United States WW2 Army Transport Command Group. This group includes Officer U. And AAF propeller insignia, small shirt sized pilot wings marked Amico Sterling, pair of ATC (Army Transport Command) collar insignia marked Phila PA Sterling, 3rd AAF patch, Named and Service Number Sterling Bracelet (broken chain), and a WW2 Victory Medal.
The uniform has a few holes on the arms. The name Kling is written inside and the card with the name Lt Gilbert C Kling was found in one of the pockets. The jacket has Air Transport Command DIs on the shoulders and a bullion Air Corps patch on the left arm. The Air Medal comes with the case, small piece of extra ribbon and lapel pin. The case has some cracking and shows wear. The Air Medal is a wrap brooch style and is not numbered. Also included is an Aerial Gunners expert badge, 2 ribbons, 2 patches and a ruptured duck pin.
The badge is in fantastic original condition as shown. We’ve never seen another and can’t find another example online. We recently acquired a pair of these post war European Command medals and this one’s named to a “Lieutenant Colonel” of the U. Army 16th infantry Regiment. This particular medal was presented for the “Slowd Fire Match”. The medal appears to be Sterling Silver, but is absent of hallmarks and makers marks, which is not unusual being these were made in theater. I believe this 1948 European Command EIC match was a one off, meaning there a likely very few of these medals in existence.
