Rare WWI German Miniature Medals Slide Charms on Pin Chain Made Into Bracelet. This excellent World War 1 miniature German award medals chain is in very nice antique condition and all the medals slide freely on the chain as they should. The chain was originally suspended between 2 pins or between a pin and a button and worn on the chest, but this piece has been cleverly turned into a bracelet. There are some very nice medals, including the Iron Cross by Wilhelm II, a red enamel cross that I believe reads “For Bravery in War”, a silver sterling? Medal that reads “For Gold and Country”, and the rare Silesian Eagle medal. The set could use a polishing and shows honest wear and age. Afghanistan, Medal for Valor, 1980s. German silver; 37.1 mm wide; weighs 21.6 g not including the suspension and connecting link. The design is reminiscent of the Soviet Valor Medal, with a modern Soviet tank and jets flying overhead. Very nicely detailed tank and rocky terrain. In outstanding, excellent condition. The details are perfect. The original brilliant mint luster is beautifully preserved on both sides. Comes with a scarce original regulation ribbon which shows evidence of age and use but is still very well-preserved. Established in 1980, this medal was awarded for bravery on the battlefield to both Afghan and Soviet servicemen.
Originally the General Honor Decoration, founded in 1843. It was awarded without regard to rank’For Bravery’ and was the grand duchy’s standard military award, being the equivalent to the Prussian Iron Cross Second class.
