Original WWI German Four Place Medal Bar. This one has the Iron Cross Second Class, the rare Frederick War Merit Cross, Faithful Service Medal Second Class and the Centenary Medal. Nice padded ribbons with the Awards below in fine condition. The Frederick Award has lost much of its gold finish but does still have a nice look. Original Pre WWII Austrian Republic Heimwehr Medal of Merit. Awarded to the Austrian Home Defense against the Communist uprising in Vienna February 1934. Medal is bronze in finish and is suspended from a ring. The ribbon is tied in a beautiful parade mount and is quite elaborate. The makers mark is on the back of the wing and is marked H. The Honour Cross of the World War 1914/1918 (German: Das Ehrenkreuz des Weltkrieges 1914/1918), commonly referred to as the Hindenburg Cross or the German WWI Service Cross, was established by Field Marshal Paul von Hindenburg, President of the German Weimar Republic, by an order dated 13 July 1934, to commemorate service of the German people during WW1. This was Germany’s first official service medal for soldiers of Imperial Germany who had taken part in the war, and where they had since died it was also awarded to their surviving next-of-kin. Shortly after its issuance in 1934, the government of Germany declared the award as the only official service decoration of WW1 and further forbade the continued wearing of most German Free Corps awards on any military or paramilitary uniform of a state or their National Socialist organization. Landsturm, or Home guard militia as an additional source of manpower during the war was initially created by a decree of the King of Prussia Friedrich Wilhelm III on April 21, 1813. Thus it didn’t exist during time of peace and its personnel was recruited only after the declaration of war. In fact Landsturm didn’t exist before the Great War with an exception of paper drill. The design is reminiscent of the Soviet Valor Medal, with a modern Soviet tank and jets flying overhead. Very nicely detailed tank and rocky terrain. In outstanding, excellent condition. The details are perfect. The original brilliant mint luster is beautifully preserved on both sides. Comes with a scarce original regulation ribbon which shows evidence of age and use but is still very well-preserved. Established in 1980, this medal was awarded for bravery on the battlefield to both Afghan and Soviet servicemen.
