This is a guaranteed original WW1 Australian medal pair to an aussie digger who was wounded in action. These medals were awarded to him after serving in France with the famous 7th Battalion, Australian Imperial Force. Both medals are named to Extra Regimental (ER) Corporal Robert Paine , 7 Btn AIF. He arrived in England in November 1916. While serving in the 7th Battalions frontline trenches in July 1918 near Mont de Merris (after already having been in the trenches of northern France for over a year – since April 1917), he received a shell wound to his face , which put him in out of action for 2 months. I have not replaced the ribbons on this set as these ribbons are original and have never been separated from the medals before. I’m always listing more authentic militaria from around the world! WW2 Original & Genuine Aircrew Europe Group of 4. Comprising 1939-45 Star, Aircrew Europe Star, 1939-45 General Service Medal, Defence Medal – all in original waxed paper envelopes and on original ribbons which appear never to have been mounted. This group is unattributed. When I bought it from a dealer some time back it came with the flattened box in the third picture purportedly addressed to 112683 F/Sgt Gerald McGowan who was shot down in a Halifax 5th/6th October 1942 and became a PoW. However, some helpful ebayers pointed out that the G in the naming on the box had been changed from a C. The box was in fact sent to 1288419 George McCowan RAF as evidenced by the Register at picture 4 which I tracked down on Ancestry. I have not researched George McCowan as I would have to doubt that these are even his medals (box doesn’t look big enough either). Therefore I sell them as unattributed, though I will include the box for those who might want to investigate further. Still a scarce and desirable group with an original Air Crew Europe Star. An original British medal grouping. A 1936 India General Service Medal, North West Frontier 1937-39 clasp, re-named to 845609 R. With 1939/45 Star, Burma Star, 1939/45 War Medal, unnamed as issued. Venton was taken prisoner of war by the Japanese whilst serving with the 5th Fd Regiment at the fall of Singapore on 15 February 1942. His original 1936 IGSM may have been lost during WW2.
