Medal group as awaerded to Private S. Barfoot, Royal Army Medical Corps, one of only 37 medical staff to receive the Egypt Medal with’Gemaizah 1888′ clasp. Court mounted for display group includes Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, undated reverse, 1 clasp, Gemaizah 1888, sloped engraved named 5995. King’s South Africa 1901-02, 2 clasps, South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902; Army L. Khedive’s Star, undated, the third and fourth medals name erased. Stephen William Barfoot was born at Crichel, Wimborne, in May 1859. A cab driver by trade, he enlisted into the Army Hospital Corps at Aldershot on 27 May 1884, later transferring to the Medical Staff Corps. He saw service in Egypt, India and South Africa and was mentioned in despatches for the Boer War (London Gazette 29 July 1902, refers). Please view our guide on spotting fake militaria. Group includes 1939-45 Star, Africa Star, Burma Star, Defence Medal, War Medal 1939-45 & 1902-56 Africa General Service Medal impressed named to CAPT. Medals court mounted for display with basic research paperwork. John Gordon Laing enlisted in the British Army 11/1/1937 and served with the Royal West Surry Regiment. Most likely he served with the 2nd Battalion, as they were the only Battalion within the regiment to have served in both North Africa & Burma. The 2nd Bn were transferred to Burma and made up part of the 16th Brigade, 6th Infantry Division which was later redesignated as the 70th Infantry Division and were involved in Operation Thursday, the second Chindits campaign which aimed to transport troops behind enemy lines by air to create fortified bases with airstrips for operational use. Transferred to the Reserve 26/5/1946. He was commissioned from the ranks as a Second Lieutenant in the Kenya Regiment on 5 February 1953. For Sale is a large grouping of WW2 items, including medals, patches, insignia and surgeon tools from a British Captain by the name of L. Kelly, who was a surgeon with the India Medical Service I. And Royal Army Medical Corps R. Items include marked surgeon tools, including scissors, scalpels and forceps. Tools have several manufacturers names, including Weiss, Down Bros. Virtually all are British military Broad Arrow stamped. Kelly, with a handwritten note. Also comes with multiple pages of documents, which appear to be initial orders and promotional papers, along with a pay scale document for oversea service. The medals include the M. (military division) medal, along with the 1939 – 1945 Star, the Burma Star, the India Service Medal and the 1939 – 1945 War Medal. For disclosure – when I originally acquired the grouping, the M. Medal was lacking the ribbon and has been since replaced. The medal and case are original. The original ribbon bars show the military division M. All the items came wrapped in waxed paper and a cloth bandage and neatly packed in a metal tin for British Crispbread. If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. A used WW1 British Royal Naval Air Service RNAS DSC Medal Grouping To Flt S Lt W. S Williams & Service Records. These medals are in excellent condition. This is a complete set of medals issued to Flt S Lt W. All of the WW1 service medals are named the same.. The victory medal has come loose from the mounting and is separate from its ribbon. This grouping includes a digital, and hard copy binder full of Williams service records, DSC action report from 1917 and personal life records from birth up until his death in 1947. The DSC is not named, but is hallmarked. This is an extremely nice and rare grouping that would look excellent in any collection or museum. Great for display or reference. Offered is a Great War 1916 Western Front Distinguished Conduct Medal & Military Medal group of five awarded to Sergeant G. Stewart, Royal Field Artillery. Sergeant Stewart earned his D. For the 1916 Somme Offensive whilst serving with’D’ Battery, Royal Field Artillery. Court mounted for display medal bar includes the following impressed named medals: Distinguished Conduct Medal, G. 1914-15 Star L-22614 SJT: G. ; British War and Victory Medals L-22614 A-W. London Gazette 26 January 1917: For conspicuous gallantry in action. He displayed great courage and initiative in leading several wagons to a place of safety under heavy fire, undoubtedly saving many casualties. On another occasion he rendered valuable assistance in rescuing three buried men. London Gazette 5 November 1917 (this gazette date contains mostly Ypres campaign awards). George Stewart was born in February 1895 and attested for the Royal Field Artillery at Deptford, London, on 20 April 1915. Advanced Sergeant on 28 August 1915, he served with 156th Brigade during the Great War on the Western Front from 12 December 1915, and was awarded both the Distinguished Conduct Medal and the Military Medal, the former most likely for gallantry during the Battle of the Somme.
