You are looking at a logbook grouping. Belonging to Pilot, Wing Commander Arthur. E, he took command of 578 Squadron after serving with 10 Squadron for a few ops at the start of August 1944 including Foret De Nieppe, St Philbert Ferne, Foret De Mormal. Then James joined 578, he took part in ops towards the end of August 1944 through to January 1945 on ops including Venlo, Calais, Sterkrade, Osnabruck, Magdeburg, he has nicely annotated D-Day 6th June 1944 and June 12th first V1 to fall on England, then later on the same page the first V-2 to fall on London on September 8th and also annotated a few ops with what the target was i. E Oil depot, V-2 Base, and Close support. James took command of 578 Squadron quite quickly due to the death of their previous, being Wing Commander D S S Wilkerson, who unfortunately died in a plane crash, post war James had a book and also unveiled the Memorial at the 578 Base at Burn.
