Great Britain Canada Boer War and WW1 Medal Group. QSA and KSA to CMP / Cape Mounted Police : both renamed. WW1 medal trio with original naming to 8th Canadian Infantry Black Devils 90th Winnipeg Rifles. Walter Adams , service number 12931 , born Cork Ireland 1882, attested for WW1 at Valcartier Quebec Canada September 1914, listing previous service in South Africa, and 12 years other service in the Cavalry and Hussars Queen’s South Africa Medal QSA re-named on edge in impressed letters: SGT : W. King’s South Africa Medal KSA re-named on edge in impressed letters: SGT. 1914 / 15 bronze star medal named on reverse in properly impressed letters: 12931 COL: Sjt W. 8/CAN:INF: Silver War Medal named on edge in properly impressed letters: 12931 C. B ronze Victory Medal named on edge in properly impressed letters: 12931 C. Both QSA and KSA are genuine medals, but renamed to Adams. Some undertype of the original naming is visible, but only very weak remnants, and I cannot decipher it. QSA and KSA both renamed! Lots of overall wear! GST / HST # 857353247. Interesting First and Second World. War group of 10 medals Order of the British Empire for North West Europe to a long serving Winnipeg man with extensive Research file. Lieutenant Colonel Leslie John Perry OBE ED RCASC Royal Canadian Army Service Corps. Perry WW 2 ID Card. Award for Gallantry and Meritorious Service. OBE Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire GVI. Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (Military) GVI issue, LCol. Leslie John Perry OBE, ED R. Royal Canadian Army Service Corps. With WW 1 British War and Victory Medals named to 875282 Cpl. 1939-45 Star, France and Germany Star, Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with clasp, War Medal with MiD device, 1935 Jubilee engraved to Capt. Perry, Efficiency Decoration bar Canada named to Major L. Citation for the OBE in the Canada Gazette 15 Dec. During the campaign in North West Europe this officer held the appointments of Deputy Assistant Director of Supplies and Transport (Supplies), Commander Royal Canadian Army Service Corps 2 Canadian Corps Troops and Assistant Director Supplies and Transport (Eclipse). In all these appointments this officer displayed extreme energy and devotion to duty. His planning and advice to the staff of the Quartermaster General’s Branch on maintenance matters was sound and extremely accurate at all times. His efforts have contributed to a very large extent to the successful execution of the army maintenance plans. Canada Gazette and CARO/5512 both dated 31 March 1945. Leslie John PERRY was born 17 January 1897 in Wimborne St. Giles Dorset England to Charles Henry and Jane (nee Millar) The family came to Canada in 1912 and settled in Winnipeg. WW1 attestation states born January 17th 1898 in. Most likely in an attempt to avoid parental interference in underage enlistment. Attested March 30th, 1916 at age 18 in the 184th Overseas Battalion giving his trade as Bank Clerk in Winnipeg. The 1916 Census shows Leslie serving with the CEF at Camp Hughes. Leslie served Overseas and was invalided from France with Typhoid while serving with the C. In 1927 Leslie John Perry wed Ida Lillian Trowell in Winnipeg Leslie was active in the Militia/ Reserve in the period between the wars and gained promotion 1n 1929 and 1930. He was awarded the Jubilee Medal in 1935 Landed France 25 July 1944 and served with distinction throughout the Campaign in North West Europe rapidly earning promotion to Senior rank and earning recognition for good work Leslie John Perry is. To have been employed as a Provincial Welfare Officer in Winnipeg for many years. Died Age 91 September 16th 1988. The medals are offered Court mounted (possibly by Perry himself) as worn. The 1935 Jubilee Medal is crudely hand engraved in upper and lower case sans serif letters Condition : Traces of glue to backs of some medals N. On both WW1 medals in the pair has a contact scuff (please see detailed images) but remains clearly legible.
