Cape of Good Hope Service Medal 1880-97, 1 clasp BECHUANALAND, sloped engraved named PTE G. VON BROEMBSEN, QUEENSTOWN RIFLE VOLS. (66 issued to this unit); 1914/15 Star, impressed named RFM. & British War Medal & Victory Medal (Bi-lingual South Africa issue) impressed named P TE G. Medals are in generally very good condition, with very light wear overall & nicely toned overall. Medals court mounted onto a backing board for display. For sale is a fantastic Victorian/WW1 five medal group. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a stunning group of medals. The group comprises of the following medals. (Renamed) 1895 India service medal with Punjab frontier 1897-8 clasp & Tirah 1897-8 clasp. Named to:3051 Cpl D. J Williams 11th Hussars. Kings South Africa medal with 3 clasps. Queens South Africa medal 1901 & 1902 clasps. British war medal and Victory medal named to 50774 A. C CL 2 D. J Williams North N. The recipient was originally in the 11th Hussars but seems to have re-enlisted at the outbreak of WW1 in the Northamptonshire regiment as an acting Warrant officer. The medals are in good condition with some age related wear and tarnish. Some fraying to some of the ribbons. They are mounted on a bar. I have attached D. J Williams pre WWI service record. Offered is an original 1918-62 General Service Medal for the South Persia Campaign to a member of the Coke’s Rifles (Frontier Force). 36 mm wide circular cupro-nickel medal with ornate scrolled ribbon suspension bar with S. The medal is impressed named to: 2385 L. The medal was originally instituted on 19 January 1923 to be awarded to Army and Air Force personnel involved in small conflicts outside Africa and India where a separate campaign medal was not issued. The South Persia campaign bar was awarded for service at or near Bushire with Major-General J. Douglas and Brigadier-General A. Elsmie from 12 November 1918 22 June 1919. The bar also accounted for service at or near Bandar Abbas with Major-General Sir Percy Sykes or Lieutenant Colonel E. Orton from 12 November 1918 3 June 1919. We list militaria and coins weekly. Rare WW1 Bronze British War Medal. (South African Native Labour Corps). Private Osiel Tsitso enlisted Mafeteng, Basutoland on 4th October 1917. Discharged on 30th September 1918. Bronze BWm is confirmed on both the Medal Index Card and BWM medal Roll entry, which copies of both are included. The ribbon on this is a little short. I will include with this medal a regular size piece of original ribbon. A scarce to find medal, which I currently have 3 of listed. All different units. Boer War Queens South Africa Medal to Captain Horace Dixon Mayhew, who served with both the 3rd Battalion of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers & the 4th Battalion of the Yorkshire Regiment during the Boer War. Queen’s South Africa Medal measures 36mm wide and is a circular silver medal with claw and swivel ribbon bar suspension, with CAPE COLONY, ORANGE FREE STATE & TRANSVAAL clasps; the face with the veiled crowned head and shoulders portrait of Queen Victoria facing left, circumscribed VICTORIA REGINA ET IMPERATRIX (Victoria Queen and Empress), signed G. De Saulles; attributed on the edge in correct officer’s sloped style Capt. The medal was instituted in 1899 to be awarded to participants in the Boer War. Rarely will you see a Machine Gun officer’s Q. Come up for sale. Was appointed a 2nd Lieutenant in the Denbighshire Hussars in January 1900, the same month in which he transferred to the Imperial Yeomanry to be a Machine Gun Commander. 6 February 1900, refers. He was indeed given command of a Gun Section in the 9th (Welsh) Battalion, which was equipped with two Colt quick-firing guns, and went on to witness active service in South Africa with the 31st & 49th (Montgomeryshire) Companies.
