AN ABSOLUTELY SUPERB FRAMED GROUP OF WW1 BRITISH OFFICERS MEDALS ALL CORRECTLY IMPRESSED NAMING TO LIEUT AND CAPTAIN L. ALL NICELY FITTED IN THEIR CONTEMPORARY GLAZED FRAME WITH ORIGINAL RIBBONS. THE OTHER INTERSTING ITEMS ARE A SET OF BEDFORDSHIRE REGIMENT OFFICERS BUTTONS AND A SHRAPNEL BALL WHICH HAS STRUCK SOMETHING. (POSSIBLY A SOUVENIR FROM ONE OF HIS TWO WOUNDS) CONTAINED IN AN OLD CLOTH BAG. LEONARD JONSTON JONES WAS TWICE WOUNDED DURING THE GREAT WAR. HE WENT TO FRANCE WITH THE 1ST BN ON THE 24TH NOVEMBER 1914. HE IS MENTIONED SEVERAL TIMES IN THE BEDFORDSHIRE REGIMENT WAR DIARY. HIS FIRST WOUND WAS DURING THE FAMOUS BATTLE FOR HILL 60 IN MAY 1915 WHILST HE WAS WORKING HIS WAY UP FROM THE SUPPORT TRENCHES. UNFORTUNATELY HE NEVER REALLY RECOVERED FROM HIS SECOND WOUND AND DIED ON 5TH MAY 1921. HIS MEDALS WERE SENT TO HIS MOTHER IN PARIS IN 1921. A SUPERB AND 100% GENUINE GROUP TO AN OFFICER CASUALTY WHO SAW MUCH FIGHTING DURING THE GREAT WAR. Original Boer War & WW1 Medal group that is named to “(19472) Lieutenant & Captain Henry Ross Gunning”. During WW1 he served with the “7th Battalion – 1st British Columbia Regiment” and during the Boer War he served with the “Devonshire Regiment”. He served 15 years with the “Imperial Forces”. Gunning was born in “Port Blair – Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India”. The group is mounted for wear with its original ribbons. The group includes the following. QSA – Queen South Africa medal with 3 bars (Transvaal / Defence of Ladysmith / Elandslaafte) named to Lieut H. Gunning – Devon Ry. An extremely rare example of an authentic WW2 IJA Major General’s uniform. It is named, and complete with pants, hat, and ribbon bar. This uniform is from a private tailor and is labeled as such. A truly fantastic piece. There is some light moth damage and a tear in the back of the tunic, this obviously does not show when it is displayed.
