Henry was awarded the Military Medal for his actions on the 8th/9th August 1918. The plaque comes with the original MM Citation which reads as follows. I wish to place on record my record of appreciation of Gallantry and Devotion to duty??? The operations on the night 8th/9th August. You were one of a party of four who attacked a machinegun post, the approach of which was full of uncut wire. You got through the wire and without waiting for the remainder, rushed the post from which the enemy fled leaving the gun in your possession. The war diary entry for 9th August includes the following entry’C and B Coys had heavy fighting and about 50% casualties………….. About 30 prisoners and a number of valuable documents captured, mostly by C Coy. The citation is a rare original, it has previously been mounted and is still stuck to the backing card which offers protection from any further creasing. Sadly Henry was killed on 16th October 1918 aged 24. No offers please, I would like to let this run for the duration.
