Up for sale is a WW2 US Army Air Force Air Medal awarded to a member of the Civil Air Patrol for his work during the Second World War. These are INCREDIBLY RARE! Even more important is who this medal was awarded to! This Air Medal is an OFFICIALLY US government engraved medal that was awarded to Gordon Prince, whose biography is in the photos. There are multiple articles online about their yachting experience, and I’ve made some screenshots for this post. There are some digital scans of the GO (General Order) that authorized the awarding of the medal. There is no original paperwork with the medal. Civil Air Patrol Air Medals are extremely rare. And to find one that is officially government engraved is even more rare; I have never seen another in 30+ years of collecting, nor do I know of anyone else who has if you have one, please let me know! And then to find one to a fellow who was General Patton’s neighbor and friend… A beautiful medal, impossible to upgrade! Please see my other auctions for more interesting medals and medal groups!
