Offered is an original 1903-04 Tibet Expedition Campaign Medal. 36mm wide circular bronze medal with claw and ornate scroll swivel ribbon bar suspension; the face with the head and shoulders of King Edward VII facing left in field marshals uniform, circumscribed EDWARDUS VII KAISAR-I-HIND (Edward VII Emperor of India); the reverse with a view of the city of Lhasa, circumscribed below TIBET 1903-4; with engraved naming to: Cooly Dharganja Sinbu S. The medal was instituted in February 1905 and awarded to participants in the Tibet Mission and accompanying troops who served at or beyond Siliguri, North Bengal, between 13 December 1903 and 23 September 1904 in the punitive expedition that following Tibetan rejection of British attempts to gain political influence and trade links. Officially impressed with the number 4532 on the rim at 6 oclock. The medal shows moderate wear with some face and edge knocks. Ribbon with original brooch. The ribbon is intact but shows moderate to heavy soiling. (2) United States Navy Medal for Service in the Dominican Campaign, 1916. Officially impressed with the number 664 on the rim at 6 0clock. Usual light strike showing moderate wear with some face and edge knocks. (3) United States Navy, Good Conduct Medal. Hand engraved on the reverse, EMIL K KLEIN U. KEARSARGE DEC 11 1912. Separate service bar, engraved on the face, U. GALVESTON and on the inside, CSC 34107 2-MARCH 1921. The medal is in good condition but shows a lot of edge knocks as well as heavy tarnish and moderate wear. The bar is in good condition with heavy tarnish. The ribbon is in poor condition, torn and frayed. (4) WW1 Victory Medal. Minor wear with an irregular tarnish and some dark spots. Original ribbon with brooch, light to moderate soiling overall. (5) New York State WW1 Service medal. Numbered 32568 in tiny numbers at the upper reverse. The medal shows light wear and has contact marks. The original ribbon shows stains and heavy soiling. The pin and pin hinge are missing from the original brooch. (6) Rhode Island State WW1 Service medal. The medal shows most of the original factory lacquer, contact marks and some knocks. The original ribbon is intact but shows heavy soiling. (7) State of New York Mexican Border Service medal. The medal shows light to moderate wear and an uneven tarnish, dark in places. The original ribbon and brooch are present and the ribbon shows moderate soiling. This is a hobby not a living, so I try to keep it fun, otherwise why do it. _gsrx_vers_625 GS 6.9.7 (625). Rare original, first type United States Navy, China Service, campaign medal. Ringtop suspension on the medal (not the later knob type) and early, full wrap brooch. In original cardboard box, with both the ribbon bar device and a pin back ribbon device. The medal measures approximately 1 5/16 in diameter. There is a penny in one photo to show scale (penny not included in sale). The original cardboard box is present. Scuffed at the corners with the red material worn away at all. There are traces of tape at the middle, with the surface red missing on the sides and on the bottom. The medal shows no wear, but has some storage type marks and a lot of tiny black marks (age spots) and uneven tarnish. The separate pin back ribbon device is faded and has light soiling may very well have been used. Same with the separate ribbon bar device which is soiled.
