6 x Medal Miniatures. This is a miniatures group (not the larger medals) made to ware. On the breast pocket of the jacket. One reads Talana, (referring to the Boer War) the other is the military cross if I’m not mistaken. The third from the left reads “Nigeria 1902, 1903″. Also included are three extra medals as shown. They are all genuine and have never been cleaned, and the ribbons are silk (all original). The first medals silk has come apart and the piece needs to be sown back on. This is the first medal on the left and the condition of the set is fair (has seen better days). It measures 10cm long by 6cm wide and has a massive pin to the reverse so it can be attached. Original Boer War & WW1 Medal group that is named to “(19472) Lieutenant & Captain Henry Ross Gunning”. During WW1 he served with the “7th Battalion – 1st British Columbia Regiment” and during the Boer War he served with the “Devonshire Regiment”. He served 15 years with the “Imperial Forces”. Gunning was born in “Port Blair – Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India”. The group is mounted for wear with its original ribbons. The group includes the following. Sudan, Boer War & WW1 Medal Group – Sjt. Allan, Cam Highrs & 27th North’d Fus. Queen’s Sudan Medal – renamed to 3225 Pte. Queen’s South Africa Medal (Clasps – Johannesburg, Diamond Hill, Wittebergen, Transvaal) – renamed to 3225 Pte. King’s South Africa Medal (Clasps – South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902) – renamed to 3225 Pte. British War Medal – correctly named to 27-7 Sjt. Allan, North’d Fus. WW1 Victory Medal – correctly named to 27-7 Sjt. Khadives Sudan Medal (Clasp – Khartoum) – renamed to 3225 Pte. Allan originally served with the Cameron Highlanders. In the First World War he served with the 27th Bn. (Tyneside Irish) Northumberland Fusiliers and his service number was 7! He was wounded (gun shot wound) on the 1st day of the Somme and evacuated to base 02/07/1916. The WW1 medals are correctly named but unfortunately the Sudan and Boer War medals have all been renamed. All of the medals are genuine and are swing mounted for wear on original ribbons. There is no doubt that these are the medals that Sjt. Allan would have worn. Comes with copy research.
