Ronald Cobley from Rotherham, South Yorkshire enlisted in 1943/1944 & the GSM roll states that he served with the 6th Airborne division in Palestine from 31-10-1945 to 30-6-1948. He joined Rotherham borough fire service in 1949/1950 & was awarded his long service medal as a station officer & the award certificate for the 1977 silver jubilee medal states that he was a divisional officer grade three when he was awarded this. The group comes complete with a huge archive of original material including the recipients photograph album from his time in Palestine. This contains 155 small snap shot type photographs of the recipient on military service including several shots of parachute drops, 1 x large military photo of the signal troop, 59th British light regiment RA in Quetta February 1947, 1 x postcard size military photograph of the same unit, 15 assorted fire service course photographs of assorted sizes, issue certificate for the 1977 silver jubilee medal, 11 x assorted fire service training certificates & a newspaper cutting with regards to the recipients promotion to divisional officer which states that he served with the 144th & 6th airborne divisional signals in WW2.
