Besides being in very good shape, I know a bit of the history of this medal. My great-great-uncle Victor Smith was fighting in the trenches as a member of the British Army. He bayoneted the German soldier who had earned this medal and took it off the dead body as a trophy. The loop on the back that retains the pin is slightly bent.
