Up for sale is a unique and rare WW1 medal. This medal reads “The Disabled Emergency Officers Of The World War” and is made of bronze. The medal is in fantastic condition for its age and comes with its original Presentation box. There is some very slight corrosion on the pin area of the medal, which is only really visible when looked at very closely. On the back of the medal it is inscribed “Captain William Graham Reynolds 2072″. Through some research online, (Screenshot Attached) I was able to find just one Captain William Graham Reynolds that served in WW1. Reynolds was in the 23rd Infantry Division and was deployed in France for some of his service in WW1. Looking at congressional records I determined that Reynolds was awarded the 2nd highest award in the United States Military – The Distinguished Service Cross. Reynolds got this award for his extraordinary heroism on October 4th 1918 near St. The record describes that he was severely injured and despite this was able to relay critical information to his successor, setting a positive example for his men. This record, and Reynolds severe injury, as well as the medal being for disabled Emergency officers leads me to believe that Reynolds was given the Disabled Emergency officers Medal specifically for the incident above. Don’t miss this opportunity to own a rare medal that is ID’d and documented with history! The item “Named and ID’d Disabled Emergency Officers Vintage WW1 Medal With Box! World War 1″ is in sale since Monday, July 10, 2017. This item is in the category “Collectibles\Militaria\WW I (1914-18)\Original Period Items\United States\Medals, Pins & Ribbons”. VINTAGE & RARE WW1 BRITISH ARMY MILITARY CROSS & MEDAL GROUP AWARDED TO CAPTAIN ARCHIBALD CECIL MILLS, ROYAL ARTILLERY. Medals have been court mounted for display, including. GRV Military Cross – un-named (attributed London Gazette, 3rd June 1919) – see research below. British War & Victory Medals, impressed to: CAPT. Included is a gilded officer’s Royal Artillery cap badge with spinning wheel and claw back attachment. Born 9th September 1893. Served in the 277th Support Battery (Territorial Forces) 45th (2/Wessex) Division, entering France on 22nd March 1917. For actions in France & Flanders. Applied for medals 26th March 1922, stating his address 4 Weston College Road, Mannamead, Plymouth. Died Plymouth June 1982, aged 88. The 277th RFA were originally an artillery Brigade attached to the 55th West Lancashire Division, Territorial Forces. After the Boer War, the Government and Army realised that the small standing Army of the Empire was insufficient for modern needs, and in 1908 the Territorial Forces came into being, and trained and equipped as the Regular Army. Though they were raised to serve on the home front only, at the outbreak of World War 1, they volunteered for service at the front. The 277th did not go into action immediately, and when they did go off to France in late 1915, the 277th were attached to the 2nd Canadian Division who were still getting their artillery up to strength and a suitable level of competence. The 277th rejoined their own 55th Division at the beginning of 1916, but were moved again in January of 1917 to become an Army Brigade under the more centralised command of the newly re-organised Royal Field Artillery. Logistically, this made sense, because moving vast numbers of horses, guns and men to different sectors of the front (traditionally following their parent Division), on a fairly regular basis, did not make much sense as it was a highly dangerous and frequently complicated exercise. He then brought in the remainder of his party. Lewis Wensley Bond Jennings was commissioned on the Unattached List in August 1918 and gained an appointment in the 64th Pioneers in the following month. He was, however, attached to the 48th Pioneers at the time of his M. Winning exploits near Jandola in early January 1921. Very probably as a result of his severe wounds, Jennings was placed on the Retired List with effect of December 1923 (London Gazette 25 July 1924 refers).
