Rare Ww2 French Red Cross (crf) Solid Bronze Medal’ P. O. W. Aid’ Port Said 1943

This is an extremely rare Second World War solid bronze medallic award. This is a medal issued by the French Red Cross (CRF ; Croix-Rouge Francais) in Egypt. The rectangular medal has been awarded for helping prisoners of war in the Post Said camp. Whether the medal was awarded to an individual, an authority or an organisation, I do not know. The medal (6.00 cm x 14.50 cm) depicts a chained man reaching out to a Red Cross sun. Incised, on the reverse, is the following caption;’ PORT-SAID AIDE AUX PRISONNIERES DE GUERRE 1943′. The medal is also numbered’39′ on the reverse. I have seen other similar Port Said CRF bronze POW Camp medals(different numbers and design). They are rare enough. Fine & Rare World War I British Military Medal. Solid Silver. Unnamed

Was a military decoration awarded. Personnel of the British Army, other arms of the armed sources & to personnel of other Commonwealth countries for bravery in battle on land. This award was established on 25 March 1916. The award was discontinued in 1993 when it was replaced by the Military Cross. Then other Commonwealth nations instituted their own award systems in the post war period. A circular solid silver medal of 36 mm diameter. The obverse bears the effigy of the George V in Field Marshall’s unifiorm. The reverse has the inscription “FOR BRAVERY IN THE FIELD” in four lines, surrounded by a laurel wreath, surmounted by the Royal Cypher & Imperial Crown. The suspender is of an ornate scroll type. The ribbon is dark blue, 1.25 inches wide with five equal centre stripes of white, red, white, red, and white. The name and service details of the recipient were usually impressed on the rim of the medal, although honorary awards to foreign recipients were issued unnamed (like this particular medal).
