A fantastic original ww2 RAF officers medal group belonging to Flt lt Pascoe AFC KCVSA. The group is in used but very good condition with medals never looking to be ever mounted for wear. The medals came with various items including his pilot wings, ribbon bar and “pathfinder” badge. Paper work is also with the medals including certificate, kings letter, newspaper etc. Also not pictured is an information folder I have created on the officer which I will include although more research is needed or could be done. As he was awarded the KCVSA during the war he was awarded with the MiD leaf which can be seen on his ribbon bar. The AFC is in good condition with pin still intact and working (the AFC box has been added later by myself to house the AFC) Overall a great group to a great Pilot. Harry Angus Makay Pascoe qualified as a pilot of 30 years of age before ww2 , in September 1939 war broke out and he joined the RAF as an airman but he was quickly identified as a valuable asset for pilot training rather than aircrew as crews were generally under the age of 25. He was commissioned in 42 and served as a pilot trainer in several bomber Command operational conversion units including No. During this time he gained 2,000 hours whilst training pilots who were to fly PFF Lancasters in specialist night flying techniques. Toward the end of ww2 he was posted as Chief Flying Instructor to No. During the war this unit trained over 5,444 pilots, 704 gallantry awards & 4 VC’s. After the war he was one of the founders of Channel Airways. In 54 due to bad weather he decided to land the plane at the beach where his passengers all had a Hotel, when the Ministry of Transport heard they were not pleased and wrote Harry a very strong worded letter. (Original letter and newspaper at the time are also included in the group). The item “Original ww2 RAF officers AFC medal group pathfinder history” is in sale since Friday, June 15, 2018. A fantastic totally original ww2 RAF officers DFC Aircrew Europe star group. Its all in used but good condition and unmessed with. The log book is full of information from 42 till 54. Filled with training, raids etc, some historic raids such as Admiral Scheer sinking and bombing Eagles nest. Comes with a card with the original owners history but more research needs doing. There are 2 small photos of what I’m guessing was his A/C and himself. A nice lot and very hard to beat. Loads more info in the book and items but not enough space for more photos. A real beaut set. Overseas priced with full amount cover for loss hence the price. The item “Original ww2 RAF Pathfinder DFC medal group, log book photos etc” is in sale since Wednesday, March 07, 2018.
