Indian National Army (950 Indisches Infanterie Regiment) AZAD HIND MEDAL INDIAN LEGION IN GERMAN ARMED FORCES, MEDAL (original) , WW2.2nd Class Star, Silver & Bronze Star Medal. Obv: a Tiger’s bust on a radiating star with the name “Azad Hind” around the tiger’s head. This is the Vir-e-Hind Medal of the Azad Hind Fauj founded by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. The Azad Hind decorations were instituted by Subhash Chandra Bose while in Germany, initially for Azad Hind Legion, to be awarded for gallantry in the field of battle. Measurements of the medal 2 3/8 x 2 3/8 inches (60 x 60 mm). W- 1.27 OZ 36 gr. It is well-known that the Indian National Army (INA) was first proclaimed in April 1942 after the fall of Malaya and Singapore with Indian Prisoners of War (POW) and the Indian diaspora. This volunteer force known as INA 1 was disbanded in December 1942 due to differences with the Japanese, but later merged with INA 2 raised under Subhas Chandra Bose in July 1943. Very rare German WW2. Cuff Title KG 53, 1936 1939. This item depicted in the images below is a German WW2. Luftwaffe Legion Condor cuff title. Legion Condor was the honorary title given to Kampfgeschwader 53, a very highly active German bomber wing during World War II. The fabric is a. With mouse grey stitching for the Gothic type. The reverse is held together by 13 fine black cross-stitches. It has been my understanding that both NCOs and officers used the same type of cuff title in this particular unit. Overall, this is a fine representation of a rather elite Luftwaffe unit, and would look great in any display. On the last image for sample I put a photo of German officer with the same cuff title. Titled Legion of Merit case, (EX). 245th Coast Artillery, NYNG badge, 2 1/4, pinback, high quality, (EX), long obsolete and rare. Distinctive insignia pin, sterling, (EX) on original card. 1 1/8 13th Regiment NYNG medal engraved to Rube, (EX). American Spirit Honor Medal, 1 3/8, drilled hole as illustrated. I was able to find both service details and the official citation for the LoM award on line. Citation: Master Sergeant Walter A. Department of the Amry General Orders No. 12 (November 4, 1947). THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, AUTHORIZED BY ACT OF CONGRESS, 20 JULY 1942, TAKES PLEASURE IN PRESENTING THE LEGION OF MERIT TO MASTER SERGEANT WALTER A. RUBE, UNITED STATES ARMY, FOR EXCEPTIONALLY MERITORIOUS CONDUCT IN THE PERFORMANCE OF OUTSTANDING SERVICES TO THE GOVERNMENT OF THE UNITED STATES WITH THE COAST ARTILLERY CORPS FROM MARCH 1944 TO SEPTEMBER 1945. Rube was born in Brooklyn of March 20, 1902. He enlisted in the NYNG on 12 March, 1920, age 17 and was assigned to the 6th Company, 13th CDC. He was federalized with the 27th Division with the rank of Master Sergeant on 16 September 1940. At that time, he was married, 70 tall and 144 pounds, with two years of high school. He died in 1985. ASN 20261874, SSN 101-32-9718. Released from federal service on 21 September 1945. In my fifty plus years of collecting U.
