This is a very odd piece, it is a full size 36mm British DCM, showing great age and toning. That’s where the easy part ends. It is gorgeous BUT totally NOT the British version of this medal, a couple thousand of which were awarded to US soldiers in France. High grade, about a perfect planchette, but the usual suspension is not present, and never has been. Unnamed on edge, as was the case with the Brit ones that were given in France. The top, where the usual British clamp and pin suspension would be attached is blank, no rim, etc, and I have no idea if this is a British medal that has never had the suspension part fitted, or if it’s repaired, or what. The medal does NOT swivel. And the suspension is not the right design used by the UK. I believe this is a US made copy of the British medal made for a US soldier who got the award but not the medal. Otherwise, I cannot find any sense in it. Not a modern fake, not an issued British medal either. I guarantee it to be old, and silver, high quality, IE not a sand cast piece, etc. Beyond that, it has stumped me. Carries a privately made split brooch open catch pin at top. Ribbon is right, with a slight bit of fraying at the top. S ee image and title for any info, and ask any questions you may have! Items are shown FRONT and BACK where applicable and possible!
