100% GENUINE FULL SIZE & CORRECTLY NAMED. M, WW2 Defence Medal, GVR T. M & EIIR 1st type I. To- 4152 / 510238. Field served with the 47th London division. Royal Engineers & later served with the R. He was awarded his ISM in the London gazette 21-7-1953 for his services as assistant superintendent, London postal region. The group is mounted as worn with the exception of the ISM that is mint with case of issue. NEF/EF & complete with MIC & gazette details. All 3 medals look to be in good condition but please study the photographs carefully and make up your own mind as to their condition. All 3 medal comes with their correct ribbons. They were mounted using double sided sticky pads at some point and still have visible signs of this on the reverse of the ribbons. Sometimes I may replace a visibly worn or broken strap. Before being listed, each watch will be tested for time keeping over a 24 hour period. DOB 12th July 1914. Enlisted 10.2.41 and discharged 22.1.47. The nominal roll suggests he setved with 2/8 Field Regiment, which fought at Tobruk, El Alamein, Syria, Egypt, and then at Brunei Bay in the Pacific. This lot will make a great research project. The group of six medals comprises the’1939-45 Star, Africa Star (with’8th Army’ bar), Pacific Star, Defence of the UK Medal, British War Medal and Australian Service Medal. All correctly impressed in early 1950s small naming SX11271 C. Born in Thebarton S. Rank given as Lance Bombadier. Aw a lot of action. This lovely group is ready to research. Offered is a Great War 1916 Western Front Distinguished Conduct Medal & Military Medal group of five awarded to Sergeant G. Stewart, Royal Field Artillery. Sergeant Stewart earned his D. For the 1916 Somme Offensive whilst serving with’D’ Battery, Royal Field Artillery. Court mounted for display medal bar includes the following impressed named medals: Distinguished Conduct Medal, G. 1914-15 Star L-22614 SJT: G. ; British War and Victory Medals L-22614 A-W. London Gazette 26 January 1917: For conspicuous gallantry in action. He displayed great courage and initiative in leading several wagons to a place of safety under heavy fire, undoubtedly saving many casualties. On another occasion he rendered valuable assistance in rescuing three buried men. London Gazette 5 November 1917 (this gazette date contains mostly Ypres campaign awards). George Stewart was born in February 1895 and attested for the Royal Field Artillery at Deptford, London, on 20 April 1915. Advanced Sergeant on 28 August 1915, he served with 156th Brigade during the Great War on the Western Front from 12 December 1915, and was awarded both the Distinguished Conduct Medal and the Military Medal, the former most likely for gallantry during the Battle of the Somme.
