CITATION FOR DCM, FOR CONSPIOUOUS GALLANTRY AND DEVOTION TO DUTY NEAR HOOGE, DURING OPERATIONS FROM 31st JULY TO 2nd AUGUST 1915. HE CARRIED OUT HIS DUTY AS A STRETCHER BEARER UNDER HEAVY SHELL FIRE WITH THE UTMOST BRAVERY. ON SEVERAL PREVIOUS OCCASIONS HIS COOLNESS AND GALLENTRY HAVE BEEN NOTICED. Here we have a Fantastic Rare WW1 DCM Gallantry Kings African Rifle Distinguished Conduct Medal, Very scarce medal, only 190 ever issued and then only 24 issued to this particular regiment the 1/2 KAR Kings African Rifles, ribbon is a replacement and the front and back are quite worn due to probably being worn in Africa, this rare distinguished conduct medal has been issued to a pte in the Kings African Rfiles for outstanding gallantry and has a amazing citation which reads. R conspicuous gallantry in action at Pere P. On 6th September 1918. While his company was advancing under heavy fire he reported that the enemy were dismounting a machine gun. The order was given to charge and he was the first to go. The Company charged about twenty yards until stopped by the enemy covering party to the gun who jumped up and fired at point blank range. This man did not take cover with the rest of his party but with great coolness stood up and shot an enemy askari, and then running forward to an ant-hill ten yards away from which fire was coming, killed two native enemy NCO’s thus setting a fine example to the men of his Company and helping the advance against and defeat of two enemy Companies. The medal is correctly impressed to “4808 Pte Usi Bin Seremani 1/2 K. A. Artillery in Aleutians Dutch Harbor 1942, He graduated Navigation School in Late 1943 at Mather Field and then was assigned to the B-24 Baby Bug 42-94865 as Navigator, successfully completed over 35 missions, He retired from the bombing group in September of 1944 and got married back in the states on Oct 21 1944. There is one official photo here with Army stamp on back and showing the Baby Bug with his crew, other photos have names of other crew members on back. His large wedding photo shows him wearing a couple of his ribbon bars. His air medal bar has the 3 cluster of acorn leaves, the main medals are not engraved on back. In the scrap book there is a lot of really cute pages put together by his wife to remember when they first met through to their wedding and newspaper articles on his. The Flying Cross Award and articles on their marriage. Great lot, direct from Recent Estate Sale. Very good overall shape, no box for Air Medal and Flying Cross is missing small pin, some edge wear and surface wear to photos and papers, see photos. Mailed with care fully insured. Offered is a good Second World War minesweeping operations D. And Bar attributed to Lieutenant-Commander A. Parkinson, Royal Naval Reserve: first decorated for mine clearance work in the Thames estuary, he won a Bar for similar services off the coasts of Holland, Belgium and France in the summer of 1940. Swing mounted medal group includes: Distinguished Service Cross, G. Hallmarks for London 1939, with Second Award Bar, the reverse of the Cross privately engraved,’Lt. And dated’1940′, the reverse of the Bar officially dated’1940′; 1939-45 Star; Atlantic Star; Africa Star, with North Africa 1942-43 clasp; Defence and War Medals 1939-45. London Gazette 11 July 1940. For good services in the Royal Navy since the outbreak of war. London Gazette 3 September 1940. For bravery, skill and enterprise in minesweeping operations off the coasts of Holland, Belgium and France. Arthur Douglas Parkinson began his career during the First World War with the Royal Naval Reserve, attaining Sub Lieutenant rank & attending a minesweeping course in 1916, demobilised 23. During WW2 he was appointed a Lieutenant in the Royal Naval Reserve R. In December 1939, when he joined the Sheerness minesweeping establishment Wildfire. Parkinson’s subsequent part in mine clearance operations in the Thames estuary aside, he is credited by Mill Hill School of having carried out equally gallant work at Ostend, Le Havre and on the Scheldt, quite possible in connection with the laying of mines during the evacuation of the Allied Forces from France & Belgium. Distinguished Conduct Medal Awarded to HW Barker ENGRAVED WW1 Trench Watch

This is a stunning Black Coloured Porcelain Dial WW1 Trench watch but it is historically important due to the fantastic engraving that the watch carries… A true historical artefact. This is a very special watch indeed and was awarded to a very special guy… This watch was presented to Private HW Barker, York and Lancaster Regiment, who was awarded the DCM for repairing telephone lines under fire at the battle of Asiago. For conspicuous gallantry under intense enemy barrage while working continuously on a main telephone line which had been cut to pieces. The two men assisting him were killed one after the other, but Private Barker stuck to his job and put the line through alone. Upon his return he immediately volunteered to go out through a barrage and mend another line, though he had nothing to eat for 15 hours. His absolute disregard of danger and his devotion to duty were magnificent. The hands are awesome which with the numerals carry some of the original luminous paint. The dial is beautifully black and in great shape. The crown is the original Pumpkin crown. The movement which is running well and keeping time is unsigned, however is a Fontainmelon movement. Is it wearable, oh YES this is a watch made for wearing and will catch the eye of many as your arm rests on the bar of your local pub.
