As it was found in the estate. I know nothing about him. Expert rifle, an badge is missing the prongs and the top bar has a Crack in it. Marksman badge is mostly sterling silver. He was well qualified on weapons. There is no brick and mortar store.

World War One And Earlier Medal Grouping To Colonel Charles DeForest Chandler. Very nice grouping to Colonel Charles DeForest Chandler. He commanded the Balloon Section of the AEF during World War One! The book, which is a rare book is included. There is a 3 inch binder of research included with the group and there is a lot of Information on him available on the web. He was buried in Arlington National Cemetery. I like to call him Army Air Force Officer number one! He was assigned the job to start the Air Service from the Signal Corps. He was one of the very first Military Aviators. The wings are included they are early reproductions. All the medals are his except the DSM which is an early French made piece, his original was #2141 location unknown. All four of the campaign medals are numbered, mint and trace to him, copies of the medal issues are included in the binder. Spanish War Service #138. WWI Victory two bars St. Legion of Honor Officer Grade. Original miniature medal bar. The ribbon bars made for display purposes. His Original First style Army Aviator Wings are in a collection and can be viewed on the web. I have several images in the binder. Also several, original photos of him included! WW1 French unofficial victory medal “Charles”. This French victory medal was designed by “Charles”, the engraver of the firm “Chaubillon” who make the Cuban victory medal for the Cuban government. The French victory medal was instituted on 24 January 1919, to be attributed to all French military who had served in France, Russia, Middle East and Africa during WW1.
