Offered is an original 1896-98 Sudan Campaign Medal. 36mm wide circular silver medal on swivel ribbon bar suspension; the face with the crowned veiled Jubilee bust of Queen Victoria circumscribed VICTORIA REGINA ET IMPERATRIX (Victoria Queen Empress); the reverse with the seated winged figure of Victory, a palm branch in her right hand, a laurel crown in her left, British and Egyptian flags to left and right respectively, a tablet below inscribed SUDAN, Nile lilies at the base. Named in the correct sloped engraved style to: Dly. Bhiwa Dewa 1st Bo: Lancers. Not often do you see the bronze medal come up for sale. Medal retains the correct award ribbon and has no noticeable damage or imperfections – as per photographs.
